I think it's only a matter of time...

shareWe had a brand of cheese here called Coon. It's called "Cheer " now.
The real stupidity is that coon was never used as a racial slur here anyway.
You didn't grow up where I grew up then. In the NT it was commonly used.
shareWhat are you talking about? Coon has been in regular use as an insult in Australia for decades, as long as I can remember.
You’re either being wilfully disingenuous or you don’t get out much.
I’ve never heard it being used. That said Coon is also a name and if the Aboriginal's are too stupid to realise that than perhaps they are just seeking to be offended as per usual.
shareI don’t know, times change and I don’t think it hurts for companies to keep up with those changes and rebrand if the name is potentially offensive. I mean, does anyone really miss Gollywog biscuits?
I don’t think this is an issue of indigenous people being offended (although that would be understandable if every time you go shopping you see a dairy product with the same name as a derogatory term used to insult your people), I just think it’s about society maturing and realising that there are kinder ways to do things.
At the end of the day, that cheese is crap anyway!
I’ve never bought Cheer cheese, I know at the time the Aboriginals were upset because they wanted to be consulted on the new name.
Always the same, always pushing for something else but never changing themselves.
Well I’m not going to get into that debate with you, suffice to say we have very different opinions on the matter.
shareNot surprised, the Aussies are a racist bunch of pricks.
shareA college professor once got sacked for using the word "niggardly". The woke are lunatics.
shareAre you talking about the 2019 incident when the professor defined niggardly as a slur when it actually meant miserly? Or some other incident?
share"Niggardly" was a banned word on IMDb. You could not post it. So was "chink" as in a "chink in your armor".
shareI don't believe it. Got a source?
sharePosting on IMDb. That's my source. Any other old school IMDb poster can verify. What are you, a newbie?
shareI was posting on imdb for years prior to the forum migrating here. Based upon my posting experience, the words chink and niggardly were never prohibited.
If "newbie" is the best you can do, then you should find another place to insult people.
What else do you have?
Uh, you insulted me. You called me a liar. The words "niggardly" and "chink" were censored. Do your own research if you need proof. I can't be arsed. Any seasoned IMDb user can verify.
shareI'm not obligated to believe anything anyone says. It is not rude to say so. I certainly did not call you a liar. When I said "I don't believe it" it was in reference to an alleged IMDB ban on certain words, not your claim.
However if a person (such as you) makes a claim, then it is expected that they support the claim with something other than "I said so".
I can always tell when a person is making up a claim they have no rational reason to believe. They will not support the claim and then insist that the people questioning their claim prove them wrong.
All I can tell you is that I posted on IMDb for 15 years, and it was always a running joke that you couldn't refer to a "chink" in your armor or type the letters "nigg..." because of the automated censor.
Dude, I don't have to prove anything. I'm not making a "claim". I'm answering a post. Do your own research. I stand by my statement.
You did claim that "Niggardly" was a banned word on IMDb.
So it was a running joke and not an actual ban then? If you were standing by your statement, then you would not shift the goalposts from ban to joke.
Oh JFC. It was a running joke that it was banned because the "nigg" triggered the automatic censors. Sorry, I don't have time to babysit you, fool.
You're quite niggardly in the smarts department.
It is impossible to debate a person who keeps on changing their argument. Why do you find so much satisfation in this?
shareDude. My original "argument" has not changed. There's nothing to change and you've said nothing which refutes it.
IMDb banned and censored the words "niggardly" and "chink". That's a fact. Why are you even arguing about this?
You claimed it was a fact, without evidence. I said I did not believe it. Why does my opinion on this matter so much to you?
share"Any other old school IMDb poster can verify. What are you, a newbie?"
"Any seasoned IMDb user can verify."
"All I can tell you is that I posted on IMDb for 15 years"
TWO DECADES POSTING DRIVEL ON MOVIE FORUMS HAS THIS GUY SUFFERING FROM AN UNWARRANTED EGO. NOEMOJI

shareIt's been two years now. I think you are going to be denied your entertainment this time.
shareShe likes her men like she likes her last name.
shareI just came to Carrie's board to say that something really needs to be done about her last name. If she isn't willing to legally change her surname then the least she could do is use her middle name, Alexandra. Carrie Alexandra sounds much better.
shareChange it to Goon.
Case closed.
Or just Koon.

WHEN THE MONEY GOES...THE RAPING STARTS...WOMEN ARE HELPLESS...WITHOUT...THE COON!
"...before the social justice mob forces her to change her last name because they find it offensive."
There is nothing they don't find offensive. No matter what she changed it to, they could find something about it to be offended by. It's their only claim to genius.
🙄
shareJust like Kowalski above.
