Bond has been white since he was created more than seven decades ago. Invent a character who's black, and have this guy or some other black actor play him. Instead of meddling with something established, do something new.
shareIt makes sense to create something new, but it's easier to take iconic characters and race swap them because they know people will still go and see them. Hollywood has seemingly given up on POC's coming up with their own characters and franchises. If they could, I'm sure there would be a black secret agent character by now.
Remember when Daniel Craig totally meddled with something established and changed Bond to something completely diffetrent?
One Sean Canary invented Bond more than seven decades ago he established Bonds lovely jet black hair.
Along comes Craig and just totally race swaps it into germanic blonde hair!
Connery has never had "jet black hair" in his life unless of course you are describing when Bond "disguises" himself as a Japanese man in You Only Live Twice.
