i'm only on episode 2 of this show but Jamie has already won me over with her incredible performance as Nomi.
shareMy feeling is that it's her voice (this is my opinion and not meant to offend anybody). It's jarring to see a woman and hear the trans voice - I experience it at times with Laverne Cox.
And, as another poster pointed out, the character is one who has been undermined by her mother and society all her life…one would certainly be a bit wooden at times.
That said, I can agree that she's the weakest of a very very strong group of actors. And her character (I'm only on episode 7) is not as fiercely intriguing as Sun, as intrepid as Capheus, as funny as Miguel, as tender-hearted as Riley, or as conflicted as Kala. Her character thus far is largely a victim…and that can be a turn-off for the audience.
