I'm with you 'fish. Definitely the weakest among an otherwise great ensemble in Sense8.
shareI'm afraid I'm with fish and cotb. Nomi and Amanita just do not work for me. The Nancy Drew episode was painful to watch.
shareSame here. Frankly I don't think these are purely subjective taste issues. It may be hard to fully deconstruct exactly what makes her performance so awful (tho lack of emotional range, immobile facial expressions, flat affect, awkward body posture are a start) but one of the key jobs of a director is to judge the quality of a performance. All actors drop bombs in some of their takes, directors try to draw out good ones and then select (with editors) the best to print and use in the cut. I'd be willing to wager that if we got ten even halfway decent directors to watch a handfull of these scenes (without any knowledge of the whole trans context) they'd all judge them as poor.
It's sad cause I'd love her to succeed. Acting can certainly be taught and developed to some extent, and ala Whiplash, maybe sometimes you need to dodge a cymbal to get motivated enough to put in the work. Jamie, hit the boards! Frankly, in my experience its all about honesty.
