I saw other threads about the possibility/probability of replacing Amber Heard with Emilia Clarke. The current theme is that Momoa and Heard lack chemistry but Momoa and Clarke are already a proven combination. Personally I'm not sure that matters in a Superhero film. Also, I thought Heard was pretty striking in Aquaman and made her mark in an often overly busy film. So, much as I love watching Emilia Clarke I kinda hope she doesn't get dragged into this role and the controversy that surrounds Amber Heard.

Emilia Clarke was never going for the role of Mera. She was looking at another (as yet unrevealed) role but decided to pass on it. Rumor is she was offered a role in a Marvel film.
