They?
Oh. She must be doing that pronoun thing.
shareNo.
That is not grammatically correct.
She was born....
"They" "came out" as "queer" and "non-binary".
It's an easy, meaningless virtue signal that requires zero commitment.
They have a lot of spare time.
shareI only mind how it goes against the proper use of English grammar.
shareActually it doesn't...
they
/T͟Hā/
pronoun
pronoun: they
1.
used to refer to two or more people or things previously mentioned or easily identified.
"the two men could get life sentences if they are convicted"
people in general.
"the rest, as they say, is history"
INFORMAL
a group of people in authority regarded collectively.
"they cut my water off"
2.
used to refer to a person of unspecified gender.
"ask someone if they could help"
It still isn't the correct use of the term. Even though I have heard it quite a few times now it still sounds wrong.
shareAh, so your position is that you are correct and the dictionary is wrong? Ok then...
shareEveryone understood the word "they" to be plural. Just because Websters (or whatever dictionary or style guide you're looking at) went woke in an attempt to square a circle doesn't make it correct.

Do you understand no one gives a fuck anyone's pronouns? No one cares about people making pointless noises. We just ignore THEM and move on to better things in life. :)
shareThe usage at issue here is not about "they" referring to an unspecified, unknown person. Example: the phrase "that's how they get ya". It's about using it for a specific, known individual who has decided to pretend that she has no gender. Analeigh Tipton can cut her hair short and ask people to call her "Leo" all she wants. She's still a woman.
shareThey is a very versatile word! And it is also a possessive pronoun:
"I am going to sleep over at they house".
Best word evah.
"They GAVE up competing at age 16, but HAS taken part..."
Oh the consistency...
She should of kept Analeigh, it is a much prettier name for her then Lio.
