I just watched The Five, and even they couldn't make the case that he'd be a good administrator.
Since he was in the military, he'd have the respect of the troops. ✅
He's a great communicator. ✅
He's a good writer. ✅
Then they compared him to a lot of Biden's appointees, especially that dude in a dress who stole women's luggage and was finally fired. So, compared to the worst of the worst, Hegseth looks pretty good. ✅
They made a great case for him being a spokesperson for the Secretary of Defense, but just look at his bio on Wikipedia. That confirmation hearing is going to be entertaining. 🍿
WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump stunned the Pentagon and the broader defense world by nominating Fox News host Pete Hegseth to serve as his defense secretary, tapping someone largely inexperienced and untested on the global stage to take over the world's largest and most powerful military.
The news was met with bewilderment and worry among many in Washington as Trump passed on a number of established national security heavy-hitters and chose an Army National Guard officer well known in conservative circles as a co-host of Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends Weekend.”
While some Republican lawmakers had a muted response to the announcement, others called his combat experience an asset or said he was “tremendously capable.”
Hegseth's choice could bring sweeping changes to the military. He has made it clear on his show and in interviews that, like Trump, he is opposed to “woke” programs that promote equity and inclusion. He also has questioned the role of women in combat and advocated pardoning service members charged with war crimes.
In June, at a rally in Las Vegas, Trump encouraged his supporters to buy Hegseth’s book and said that if he won the presidency, "The woke stuff will be gone within a period of 24 hours. I can tell you.”
The 44-year-old Hegseth, a staunch conservative who embraces Trump's “America First” policies, has pushed for making the military more lethal. During an interview on “The Shawn Ryan Show” podcast, he said allowing women to serve in combat hurts that effort.
“Everything about men and women serving together makes the situation more complicated, and complication in combat, that means casualties are worse,” Hegseth said.
These people seem most worried about the woke and the co-ed armed forces being gone. I don't believe in either one, so I'm not particularly worried about that, but if we wanted pointers on how to make a co-ed fighting force work, I'd look to the Israelis.
The Chinese are trying to have the most efficient fighting machine in the world, and we're fussing over how to make the military more "woke." That's suicidal.
I'm most worried that Hegseth hasn't even proven that he's a good administrator of anything. Maybe he'll be great. But on Twitter we all had to see him stripped to what looked like hip-hugger undies, holding a flag that had to be dragging the ground in the part of the picture we didn't see, as he put a little flag on a military monument. I wasn't impressed. Maybe that was the point. But it immediately got all the gay guys in my feed on Team Hegseth!

Since he was in the military, he'd have the respect of the troops.
Is this how you claim to have ever served in the military and know nothing about our Sailors and soldiers?
Mere service does not mean a person is deserving of respect. Ask any junior enlisted person if they automatically respect all of their officer leadership. The answer will be, "they do not". While courtesies such as saluting or addressing them as sir or ma'am are routine, this does not mean they respect them as leaders.
I have a feeling that some woman will come out of nowhere and claim that he sexually harassed her 25 years ago. Of course she didn’t say anything until right before he got a cabinet nomination.
He paid her, and it included a confidentiality clause, but he claimed it was consensual. The man has a real problem keeping it in his pants for a guy who claims to be such a pro-family Christian. People like that make me sick.
That said, he could do his job well. But any woman who trusts him -- including his third wife -- has to be an idiot. If you get them by their cheating on the last wife, you can guarantee they'll cheat on you.
