Hard Times

"The Social Network" and "Call Me by Your Name" actor on Tuesday posted a relatable video of himself taking his four-door pickup to sell at CarMax, the used auto retailer. The actor revealed that he lives in a new apartment in Los Angeles, but can't afford gas for his wheels. So the great-grandson of oil tycoon Armand Hammer traded it in for a "tiny" new car that's a hybrid, and said he was "probably going to put about 10 bucks of gas in it a month."

Bro, where'd your money go?

reply

He was cancelled, remember?

reply

He was broke even before he was cancelled. His ex-mistress said he was asking her for money for gas.

Armie Hammer fans doubt he 'can't afford gas anymore' due to family's staggering net worth

reply

I guess he could have spent it all on BBQ sauce for all those ribs he was eating. Allegedly.

reply

Haha

HE EATS PEOPLE!

reply

Pre-emptive strike on all the poor people who keepi saying Eat the Rich!

reply

Most people don't know about money management.

reply

I believe he's putting on the "woe me's" for sympathy. He may have yet another indictment or trial date looming. Or perhaps he is planning a bankruptcy filing.

His great-grandfather's estimated worth at time of death was 800 million. That would be close to 2 billion today. He headed up Occidental Petroleum and despite the in-family-fighting over assets, there must be something put aside offshore or overseas for little Armie.

reply

I doubt if he'll be eating baloney sandwiches any time soon.

reply

For reals. He's big money rich. This whole spin he's on now is just image control. You're not fooling anybody you filthy cannibal!

reply

The Armand family fortune is said to have been depleted to just a few mil after most of the assets were handed over to the University of California Hammer Museum. And, allegedly, Armie Hammer is cut off from any residuals.

reply

While "Sock" in your username is a bit suspect, no, Hammer does indeed continue to receive SAG residuals. He was never even charged on the most disgraceful allegations. The only offense that stuck was his vividly poor judgement to attempt bringing drugs into Texas where the Lone Ranger filmed. Fine: $1000
Danny Masterson, who is currently serving a 30 years to life sentence, gets a residual cheque each time That 70's Show airs.
As for the Hammer fortune, families of massive wealth that has existed since the early 20th century have methods of "preserving" it that may go undetected.

reply

His parents cut him off

reply

And then he ate the piece they cut off.

reply

Hammer aside, it’s hard times for the guys working in TV and film. Especially here in LA. He’s not the only one suffering.
I like Hammer and think he got a rough deal. I respect that he wants to be his own man, but TV/movies are finished for him now. Go get a job in an office.
He also has family money and will be taken care off.

I wonder how much he he paid in settlements…

reply

Why doesn't he finance his own movies?

Maybe he doesn't want them to eat into his family fortune.

Oh my gawd, I just did a samoanjoes' bit. I need to wash myself in bleach.

reply

Hammer is hungry for a comeback. He will for sure pony up the money if the part is juicy enough. He likes his parts meaty, plenty of dialog. No barebones action feature for him. He, Hammer, will feature a salt & pepper goatee, a part he is ready to "dig in" to.

reply

You went full samoanjoes.

Never got full samoanjoes.

reply

All expected.
Same fate as his brother MC.

reply

That's just pants!
