JD Vance has suggested that American support for NATO should be predicated on the European Union not regulating Elon Musk and his X social media platform, formerly known as Twitter.

Freedom of speech matters. Their idea of regulation is like Ofcom. "Say vat ve say or you vill pay ze price!"

reply

You are right, freedom of speech is very important. Spreading disinformation is the issue. What do you do when someone of wealth and power starts manipulating the truth so that an entire generation who doesn't know any better is misinformed?

This is a major issue. Don't you agree?

Are these part of "the entire generation" about whom you worry?

reply

Ahh fuck, can't you speak for yourself? I don't want to click on some youtube link, grow up.

reply

It's funny, I promise. Just the first three minutes are worthwhile. A safe, amusing youtube video.

reply

Well, I watched it. It illustrates my point. This generation isn't old enough or experienced enough to tell the difference between truth and fiction.

That was what I was referring to. Freedom of speech is a major, major issue, but if someone of wealth and power has the ability to spread mis-information the younger generations don't know how to tell the difference between what they see on tik-tok and the mother fuck'n truth.

reply

I understand what you mean. And thanks for being a good sport and having a look.

reply

You bet. I feel for the younger generation because when I was their age it was so much easier to tell the truth from someones opinion. Now the news stations broadcast opinion as news 24/7. Poor kids.

reply

Dang! You mean like Zuckerberg? 😳
I was surprised to note that no matter how many youngsters have been indoctrinated in the schools for decades, the voted overwhelmingly for Trump. It seems that even if every effort is put into spoon-feeding them, they seem capable of thinking for and drawing conclusions by themselves.
