By that logic you mean jack shit and I shouldn't pay attention to you lol. Seriously we're all just a bunch of morons bitching about life on the internet and all I know is I see plenty of people on twitter and comments section bitching about Bailey's casting (plus there's already a post on the little mermaid board here talking about "blackwashing").
Kidding. I just remember IMDB message board posters losing their shit over Zendeya being cast as "MJ" in Spider-man or at the prospect of Idris Elba being cast as James Bond so the idea of similar sentiments about the little mermaid don't really sound that far fetched to me. And even if they are bots, the bots do tend to work up like-minded people so I'm glad there is an effort to combat them.
I don't think people get mad about the literal race or gender of the actors per se... I think people get upset that its done to intentionally piss them off for no real organic reason. The other part is the blatant appropriation of established characters.
It's like the woke crowd already know ahead of time that no one will want to watch a movie about an original character that fits their narrative, so they have to appropriate one that is already popular to accomplish 2 things:
Steal the character away from their "enemies", and to force them to have to deal with their world views. This is why their reaction is to always lash out when it's rejected and call people ists and isms. Now they seem to be doing this before the movie even comes out to get a jump on the rejection, to the degree of already creating the "army of trolls" when there really isn't one to begin with.
The following was a twitter comment from someone who's previous posting history tells me is not a bot:
first of all I'm not a racist i love halle, but i won't let Disney ruin our childhood memories so i started a petition to get justice for ariel and our childhood memories, i prefer Someone who looks similar to the real one
Petition http://chng.it/qSd8hVX5kz
#Ariel #TheLittleMermaid
Honestly this is pathetic. First off if you're starting a statement with "I'm not racist" you may want to explore you're feelings a little bit deeper because I'd be willing to bet what's truly bothering you is a lot more racist than you'd want to admit to yourself. Second, if your childhood memories are so fragile that the casting of a black woman to play an updated version of the Little Mermaid is enough to ruin them for you, you have serious problems.
I'll say again, I think there are a lot more real people than you'd like to acknowledge who are bothered by this and I'm glad there are even more real people shouting them down.
Scripts and bots on the internet mean jack shit...I mean a person of actual credibility.
People are just too afraid.
That's like saying that you were Atheist one century ago. Were there Atheists? Sure. Did they say it out loud? barely. But if you had had internet back then, there would have been quite a few 'scripts and bots' saying that they didn't believe in God. Of course, highly religious people quickly would say that those were scripts and bots that didn't mean jack shit. People of actual credibility were all religious, of course!!!

Gee, I dunno...according to the people behind the desk, on the stupid box, that these alleged "hordes of racists, trolls, and white supremacists" are now "emboldened" and are no longer afraid to spew their hate, so which is it?
I'm sorry man, I just don't believe that the supply of hate is anywhere close to the demand. The market just isn't really there. The over-representation in media is just that, over-representation.

The answer is quite obvious, and my previous example still applies. Back then, people were afraid to say they were Atheists... and at the same time the Church used to see hordes of witches and Satan Worshippers everywhere, emboldened and no longer afraid to spew their 'Hate of God', so which was it?
Times haven't changed. It's just the new boss doing the same stuff than the old boss. Or the new religion doing the same stuff than the old religion.

Most of what i'm coming across is total indifference. Nobody cares what they do with the Little Mermaid. That movie didn't possess people's hearts like some of the other animated features.
Twitterbots say otherwise. Search the hashtag and you'll see almost every tweet is projecting racism onto white people, its disgusting. Yet I didn't see any actual tweets of racist outrage, anywhere.
I'm seeing tweets by people having a heated debate on Disney's own twitter feed. You know, like how a thread is supposed to proceed. Kind of like how we're doing right now :).
I'm not having a heated debate lol. I dont give a shit about current year hollywood trash, I just think it's hilarious that movies now have this formula:
Make controversial cast change, then project an "ism" or "ist" onto conservatives to cover for the failure of said movie.
When anyone realizes they have nothing to defend against an accusation, they start using insults instead. That’s why people who support Bailey’s casting are calling those who don’t “racist.” They know the casting makes no sense creatively, so they try to hide that fact by trying to make others seem racist.
