I've never seen an actor/actress go as far him with nothing to back it up.
He's not a looker and whilst not awful, nothing special in the talent department either.

shareI kind of feel the same way about Jesse Plemons. I recall when I was younger, watching Friday Night Lights for the first time, I'd repeatedly reference him in particular as one of the worst actors I've seen on a major TV show. I didn't know his name at the time, obviously, but he just seemed so much like someone who was trying (and failing) at acting (IMO). He may as well had the script out in front of him in each scene, looking down at it, reading poorly. It's a bit frustrating now that, out of all the people on that show, he's the one who seems to have become the most successful.
That being said, I've found him to be fine in things like Fargo. But, even there, it's almost as if he only came off as decent because the role happened fit his own stiff, devoid of emotion or personality "style" so well. Rather than forcing him to stretch or, you know, act in any way. It's shocking to me that this guy is compared with people like Phillip Seymour Hoffman or Steve Buscemi nowadays. It's as if they're mistaking his quiet stares for a deep mystique when, in reality, it's just him not knowing how to exude anything interesting to the camera at all. And looking dumbfounded as he tries to remember his next line.
*Ahem* but Jonah Hill. Yeah. He's not great either lol. I kinda liked him in The Wolf of Wallstreet, however. But, I mean, they had to completely physically disguise him as a whole other human being in order to get me to buy into him not just being Jonah Hill.
Jesse Plemons is super funny in Game Night. He's not a bad actor he just has a unique style
shareHe's Jewish, while that does not guarantee success, that is the most common shared trait among the American producers and actors. Lots of nepotism, no different than any other industry. That's how most of us build a successful career in our professional fields.
shareOY VEY SHUT THE SYNAGOGUE DOWN
shareOr women = get promoted for their looks/tits/ass and never complain
Get no promotion and whine endlessly about toxicity and sexism. Hypocritical b*tches

shareHe's like a good luck charm. Stick this clown in your movie and it will make money. The only thing that matters. I'm convinced most of casting today is done with algorithms and spread sheets.
