Victim Brian Thompson should have a page if George Floyd does

It is truly disgusting to witness this murderer being glorified. Even in the news, Brian Thompson is mostly called "the UnitedHealth Care CEO" ... almost never named.

I will buy him one on IMDb and grab the best picture I can find of him. He was a father of two teenage sons who are now fatherless and forced to see his assassin being treated like a rock star.

Brian Thompson was a proponent of preventative medical care; like covering vitamins and other un-covered by insurance paths to better health.

He also was the biggest user of AI in medical corporations and UHC raised their premiums just a couple days after the shooting. But- I do agree anyone is entitled to a page if a glorified drunk counter fitter gets one. This probably will lead to more shootings and all of our rates will rise. Aint America great? Maybe Jan. things will get better.

I think it's IMDb that is at fault, isn't it? MovieChat just gets its info automatically from IMDb. So if someone creates an entry on the IMDb, they get an entry -- and a board -- here.

IMDb went mad ages ago and just started adding anyone and everything. Even I have an IMDb entry for something I did on the Internet aeons ago (and, no, I didn't submit it myself). It's all very silly.

I still miss those message boards. I was using AdBlock Plus to block images of people that are annoying as hell that keep popping up here but it stopped working. Now I just don't come here as much because I am so sick of seeing the same morons pop up.

So until IMDb gets back to its roots and stops adding schmucks who do things on YouTube and politicians and murderers (Insert own: 'What's the difference between the two?' joke here) because they've been on the news, MovieChat is probably stuck with it.

That is one way to look at it. But another way is that you are immortalized there 😊. Well, that's how I look at it at least. May I ask what it is you did so I can check it out? If you'd rather not I totally understand.

I agree with you, they add everything and it's out of control. I would think the moderators would have restictions in place to prevent such things. I may have to look for a different site that is just talk about movies, shows and the like. I'm sick of having politics and other non "movie chat" topics shoved in my face everywhere I go.

I suppose. But I just wrote YouTube videos. (I'm not linking to them.) And, frankly, they were not even particularly popular YouTube videos. That's the Internet Movie Database, not the Internet Content Database. It should mean something. In a sane world, I would have no right being on that database. Still, I'm a worthier entry than this Luigi Mangione chap. At least I was trying to do something creative.

I think it should be restricted to theatrical movie releases, creative broadcast and streaming television -- ie, not news and current affairs and certainly not bloody YouTube and other user-generated content. Are TikTokkers on there? I dunno. Probably though.

There needs to be a hierarchy, instead of just a mush of 'content' that is all treated as if it's equal.

If a person appears in any media covered by IMDB, they will most likely get a page. So do the crew. It is that simple. It is merely a database. Don't be so delicate.

Yeah it's interesting how criminals George Floyd and Luigi are household names, but 9-out-of-10 people couldn't tell you UHC's murdered CEO's name.

Thompson did not make a name for himself until he stopped a bullet. It was his actions at the company he directed which killed many people that was the attention getter for years.

What are you doing to ensure they get a page then? Crying about it here is not going to do you any good.

Probably, some day soon, a news program or documentary will feature Thompson in archive footage and then get a page on IMDB and MovieChat. Surely the footage of him getting shot in the back is not the only footage of him out there?
