A Great Actress Trapped in The PG-Rated Bubble

I've seen Ms. Robb in a few movies, most notably in Bridge to Terabithia, and by my film standards, I should have loathed it. I actually ended up loving it almost primarily because of her.

AnnaSophia Robb is a very talented young actress, more talented than most of the new actresses her age, but she has a huge career flaw. Her films never pop the PG-13 level, let alone the PG.

It's a waste of her fine talent. I'd compare her to Saoirse Ronan, who in contrast was almost immediately thrown into roles that climb much higher on the maturity level.

AnnaSophia needs her own "Atonement", that one vehicle that will catapult her into proper cinema, otherwise, she'll become just another Disney Channel Disposable Actress starring in a stupid show not worthy of her acting ability.

"Only God Forgives" is GENIUS. The Critics are morons who will eat their words. Count on it.

There is one flaw in AnnaSophia's acting skills that does actually need work, and it has been seen in both Bridge to Terabithia and Race to Witch Mountain: ACTION/BATTLE SCENES, no matter how miniscule they were.

BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA
Leslie and Jess were attacked by various 4-legged critters, one of whom knocked Jess completely over, and the other who knocked Leslie flat on her back on the ground. It lunged in for a bite at her face, and she used a thick wooden stick in both hands to block its teeth from reaching her face. Though the situation looked dire, she did not put very much effort into the fact she is a child being challenged by a monster. When she was on her back and the stick lodged in between the creature's mouth, there were a few camera angle shots (both up-close and far-shot) of Leslie laying with her legs together, both arms up and 'trying' to struggle with the creature. But her actions didn't quite fit the scenario. For one, not enough straining and intensity from her. I can say this because I am exactly her age [she and I were born the same year], that at age, if a monster or even a stranger was trying to overpower me, I'd be putting more effort into trying to push it or him away. Leslie made no such motions. Her strains were very light, and barely audible, and she didn't have that look that she was being slowly overpowered by a monster right at her face.

RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN
She was convincing in every scenario except, again, the battle scene, when the Siphon was in the outgrowth of alien vegetation with Seth, Sara, and Jack Bruno. Jack made a very compelling scene by using full force against the alien military unit, as did Seth when he fought him, but Sara didn't quite handle the situation very well. Just not enough intensity from her, or danger sense. There's an alien military unit here trying to stop their mission, and she's just not showing that 'battle intensity' Seth and Jack showed. When she flung the "fireball", the massive overhang turned aflame by the earlier plasma attack, she, again, didn't show battle intensity on her face. Again, when the Siphon attacked her and Seth. Seth's voice could be heard in a shout and when he grunted in pain as he slammed against the ground and they flipped right over into the vegetation from the attack, yet Sara, again, didn't show the intensity. Barely a scream, shout, or grunt when she hit the ground.

AGREE? DISAGREE? Let's discuss. :)
