I mean there's a couple of ways for Russians to do this.
It could be as simple as transferring power from the Russian presidency to a democratically elected prime minister (which is put in place of Putin's loyal incumbent PM.) Of course, there would have to be an overhaul of the Duma (Russian parliament) and constitution though.
Or just find a way to capture and imprison Putin.
A revolution has to come from the people. Sadly (but understandable) many of the russian people are affraid of going to jail even if they only say anything against Putin or the war in Ukraine. If there where like millions of people on the street I think also Puting would have to change something but with only a few thousand - it is much to less.

So the strategy of western countries is to sanction Russia, hoping economic suffering of average people will cause their discontent of Putin. That is economic terrorism, but hey, it usually works.

Then of course, yes Putin hast strong support but it was better in earlier years so the support is not as strong anymore.

You have already said it, like Putin's support was not as strong as it used to be. mostly related to sanctions.
Anyway if you want to study cases I think Arab Spring countries are a good start, like Libya, Egypt and Tunisia, etc.
Venezuela is a good example too.
You can do web research of these countries and more, their histories of sanctions, riots, toppling of governments.
venezuela is a communist state they have very bad conditions there for the people..
and nothing changed there. My brother in law it from venezuela.
With all those economic sanctions, it will not take long for russian economy to crash. And when people will have nothing to eat, then they will remove him and all his dogs.
