John Oliver or Bill Maher?
Who do you like better?
shareJohn Oliver
shareI used to like both, but not it's neither. They're both smarmy, self-righteous twits. Bill Maher is a typical libertarian asshole who doesn't understand that when you live in a society, communication is a give and take. You can't just be an edgelord and then cry about it when you offend people or play the victim of PC culture. In every civilized country in the world, there's an understanding that if you want to be heard, you have to be respectful when expressing your point of view. If you're not, you're going to get push back. Maher is the type of idiot who expects to say a lot of edgy things but then not man up when he gets the angry reactions he was going for.
John Oliver is obnoxious with his profanity-laden diatribes and millennial slang. I'm 46, and it's embarrassing to see members of my age group trying to act all hip and young by using a lot of swear words and slang. You're not 18 anymore; not only that, you're, like, five years away from becoming a member of AARP. Act your age. And talking reallyreallyreallyreally fast like the Fed Ex guy doesn't really make you sound half as witty as you think you do.

I am not missing any point. He caters to millennials and GenY. That is why he talks like that. All his diatribes are filled with the type of internet buzzwords or memes that only they would know or care about.

Maher is a lefty who rejects their turn to social justice fascism. He just called out The Squad's BDS derangement!
shareLOL @ thinking Bill Maher is a libertarian
shareI don't know which is more retarded: calling lefty Bill a libertarian or an edgelord.
Comedians are supposed to offend. Just look at what SNL and late night became after they turned PC.
Maher is hardly a “lefty” considering he supports Israel
shareI think ever since Rush Limbaugh died, Maher is sliding to the right to fill that gap.
shareYou nailed it. Too bad you're deleted.
shareOliver, Maher has been unwatchable for years.
shareBoth suck and are smug.
shareYeah, I'm with the gang - neither one is any good.
Maher was decent decades ago.
Oliver can be ok when tackling non political crap, but even then, the humor is usually off.
I'd say most comedians out there right now have strong political leanings - they poke fun of one political side, but not the one they support, even when their own politicians do all sorts of crap. Just like journalism is dead, I fear the same applies to comedy - was Trump the catalyst of their demise? I dunno, but he made their failings that much more apparent.
SNL was all Trump for 4 years, now they have Biden with tons of gaffs on daily basis and not one skit about Biden. Jim Carrey got fired for making Biden look bad - lol It wasn't always this bad - SNL used to make fun of all presidents once upon a time - they did remarkable job with Clinton/Bush/etc - that was decades ago.
Comedy, like journalism, was supposed to be neutral - but no longer - they suffered a swift and sudden death.
They are corporate comedians, I think they will make fun of all presidents when nobody tells them what to do, but not when there are corporate directives.
The same with John Oliver, Bill Maher, or SNL. Corporate censorship happens everyday.
Do I like the runs or diarrhea?
IDK.
Or Samantha Bea or the guy on ABCNNBCBS
