Today On The Grammar Police Thread

First, I admire Great Britain's royal family, (save for two), and especially enjoy the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Tindalls, and Princess Anne.

But, Prince William just released a touching bit of film on his goal to alleviate homelessness and remarked that Princess Diana took the boys to a shelter at a young age to see how some are forced to live. All good, right up until he said, "My mother took Harry and I." It is not only William, both brothers are the Sweeney Todds of grammar.

It is "Harry and me." It is called the King's English for for a reason. Did not these men attend the finest schools? Get it right, and I want never to hear from my Brit friends one word about American spoken English!

OCD about grammar bump.

Royal prerogative. Clearly illegal syntax for commoners.

reply

Thank you. Must find a support group for my issues. ;D

reply

Beats hearing Harry ramble while high on drugs and trying to imitate his bitch wife's word salads.

reply

Harry was one of my (save for two) people. You can guess the other. That said, Harry is even worse with grammar and syntax than future King William.

I think we need a reality show with Megan, Amber Heard, and Rachel Zegler. Oh, and now we can add Cynthia Erivo. And once Ms Harris has plenty of free time, throw her in the mix too! ;D

reply

That would be funny, watching those 5 duke it out while all locked in a tacky, Hollyweird mansion with cameras hidden everywhere. There would be violent catfights every 5 minutes!

reply

Episode 1: Rachel Zegler & Cynthia Erivo have a battle rap over who can sink an unreleased blockbuster faster. Amber tries to jump in since she caused Aquaman 2 to barely break even.

MC Snow & Mean Green Queen tell Amber to scat off so she does and poops their beds.

Meghan & Kamala sabotage each other's hair straightening irons. Both are soon natural.

Amber has finished her 'business' and puts Nair in Zegler's shampoo.

We end with Erivo staring into the magic mirror from another movie, asking, "Why do I look 52 when I'm only 37?"

reply

Hehehe, nice script-writing. The audience would eat it up.

reply

Most people don't know when to say "me" or "I". They default to "I" because they've been incorrectly told it's always correct, or because they think it sounds genteel.

reply

Really, because that is not the case with my friends and work associates.

reply

That my experience too.

reply

It is one of the easiest rules to remember, even for small children.

My mother took me. - My mother took Harry and me. - My mother took I?
