Far left DB....

I hate it when someone in a room full of people just automatically assumes when they talk about politics everyone is on the same page, agrees and will be ready to high-five in agreement. Why assume EVERYONE is a Democrat, and EVERYONE hates Trump?? Seth Meyers (and Stephen Colbert) are those kind of DB's. Why would you do that? And risk alienating (and pissing off) up to 50% of your audience. The smart ones...like Jay Leno...Johnny Carson....Conan, etc.....were smart enough to remain neutral, and not let their politics become so obvious on their show that it seemed like some sort of political propaganda/agenda.

reply

I don't like Trump, can't stand late night show hosts anymore. Liked Letterman when he was on.

reply

Letterman started out funny and good, but then got far-left, political, and thus un-funny towards the end.

reply

Agreed. Letterman was fantastic until he eventually got political.

reply

I love Colbert and Meyers. I don't like dumb cheap shots, but most of what djt does is easy to make fun of without much extra emphasis, so I think both are spot on when it comes to the idiot clown.

reply

Add Jon Oliver to that list too. I just wanna smack that little twerp in the face.

reply

I think he's funny until he starts talking politics. Does he not realize with his UK accent, how ridiculously lacking in credibility he is, blasting US politics? Go complain about the royals.

reply

Am I the only one who doesn’t know what DB is in this context? Decibel? Database? Dubnium...? No idea.

reply

Douchebag

reply

Jeez. I was just asking a question... :D

reply

Was that an intentional setup? Shirley, you could have looked it up online. I mean... we ARE already online!

reply

Talk about a setup! "DaveBuffalo..." And don't call me, surely.

But seriously, that was an honest question asked in good faith. iirc, I really did search "DB" and those were the first results. I'm quite sure of this because I still don't know what Dubnium is. Think the element was named after my last chemistry class.

Ripken's assumedly legit answer, however, was indeed an excellent set up for an attempt at a joke, to which I am usually drawn like a moth to a flame.

reply

Your joke was well-played. I do think acronyms are over-used online, especially with short ambiguous ones like "DB". I often get annoyed by them too, when it's not obvious. And yes I set you up for the "Shirley" joke and you responded admirably.

reply

Guilty of using common internet acronyms myself, but I suppose what is common for one is Dubnium for others. And you will find me a predictably easy sucker for setups like that.

reply

Why don't you change the title of the OP then?

reply

I agree with your statements Ripkens25.

I never thought Meyers was funny. He always had an arrogance about him that was off-putting.

reply

I agree. I used to love Letterman, but as his so-called CAREER progressed, he began to vocalize more and more his utter hatred for all things Republican.

Your thought above is spot-on. Why would they risk alienating half their audience? I'm both shallow and political enough that it turned me off to the point that I stopped watching him altogether.

I wish celebrities and CEOs would just stay the F out of politics, but they can't help it. As soon as they get in in their head that they're "influential", they assume they can influence others with their politics. I'm not convinced.

I'm a large TESLA shareholder, but Elon Musk scares me, and I'm worried that once other EVs catch up to Tesla, no liberal will ever buy a Tesla, and it will be time to sell my stock at a 1800% profit.

reply

surely the time to sell would be before that happens

reply

I think Trump is just such a comedy goldmine they cant resist

"Nuclear weapons are the biggest threat to car manufacturing in Michigan"
"Wind turbines give you cancer"
- coming from a presidential candidate. how can you ignore that?

reply

If people like Meyers, Colbert and Kimmel made jokes in even measure on both "sides" that would be one thing. (There is plenty of comedy fodder coming from Harris as well). However, what comes from these talk show hosts is very biased, one-sided and not even lighthearted or good natured. It is coming from a place of hate, anger and resentment....and there is an agenda behind it. It becomes propaganda. It's very mean-spirited and angry, just like Alec Baldwin's version of Trump on SNL. There was no comedy in that.

These idiots hate Trump SO MUCH that they're fine with losing 50% of their audience, by being so biased and angry. They think the Democratic party is still the "cool club" it supposedly used to be....and they think they're preaching to the choir. Each time they take shots at Trump, they get applause and high fives from their sycophant followers, so they assume everyone is onboard and rooting them on. In reality, their audiences are a fraction of what they used to be, and their party has become a bunch of hypocrite weasels who are ruining our country.

And ironically, it is Trump who is trying to protect the money of these celebs and entrepreneurs, not Harris. Even Bill Maher is realizing the Dems are no longer the "hip" party he thought they were.

To paraphrase a wise idiom: How could anyone under 30 possibly be a Republican? And how could someone over 30 possibly be a Democrat?
