Showcase just announced Lost Girl has been renewed for a 5th season, which is great news. Ksenia Solo wasn't included in the returning cast. This probably means nothing, just to try and build some suspense. I do wonder however if she is taking some time off from the show to make a certain movie? Do you think this is plausible? or just I way off base?
shareFrom some of the things I've heard, the female lead(likely Han and Leia's daughter) was cast sometime last Fall. If that person does end up being Ksenia, I'm sure accepting the role was an extremely difficult decision for since it would have necessitated her leaving the show. Again, another actress may have gotten the part, but if Ksenia did, she probably asked the producers to give her an exit that would allow her to come back in some capacity down the line, even if only as a guest star.
I won't be shocked if she isn't in the new Star Wars films, but I also won't be shocked if she is. I do know that it came down to her and about two other actresses. Until Disney/Lucasfilm makes an announcement, there's no way of knowing who got it. Having said that, I've heard from more than one person that she did get the role. There's also the fact that the producers on Lost Girl knew going into season 4 that they were going to kill Kenzi in the finale.
Another point of interest is how tight lipped Ksenia has been on the subject. Despite frequently engaging in conversations with her fans on twitter, she hasn't responded to anyone who has asked her about Star Wars. I also know that when her agent was asked about her possibly being in Star Wars, they refused to make any comments. That means she was at least being considered for the role at some point. We should know sometime this month.
