That's an annoying bit of click-bait and I often wonder how the 'writers' feel about having to turn out such tosh.
Personally I think Whedon is a very good writer. He often has someone deliberately state the obvious as a joke we can all share. He also has some of his characters joyfully mangle the the English language which is both funny and often memorable. There is a lot of playful irony in his dialogue which I've always enjoyed.
