Was he popular during the Smallville run?

I didn't watch Smallville the first time around because I had younger children that had to be put to bed...so I don't know much about how things were about Tom Welling. Was he popular as far as teen magazines and things like that went? I know if I had been a teen age girl I would have been crazy about him. I think he's incredibly good looking...why wasn't he in more movies too? I would have thought with his looks they would have pushed him into a lot of movie roles...but all he did was those Cheaper by the Dozen movies and The Fog. Was his work too demanding on Smallville and he didn't have the time?

He was a teen girl heartthrob during his run on Smallville and his costar Kristin Kruek was also popular, maybe even moreso as she was getting cast in more stuff than Tom Welling.

Tom Welling is an empty space and has no acting range. After Smallville ended the world went on without him.

He is a very handsome guy, but I don’t recall so much talk about him as a heartthrob or anything. The actress who played Lana got all the attention
