What will happen with the deportations?
Trump is said that he will deport 11 million illegal immigrants. How will that play out?

shareLook up Tom Homan.
shareI don't think this will be a "door-to-door" sweep. Rather, it will start with deporting people who are caught for other crimes, and probably punishments for employers who hire illegal workers. The plan probably also will incentivize self-deportations by illegal immigrants.
shareI doubt there will be any serious punishments for employers. That seems almost too sensible. If any administration in the past, including Trump's, had aggressively gone after businesses who hire illegals then the number of people coming illegally would have dropped. If there is no work here, then most wouldn't come.
shareBut I thought I heard that this is exactly what is going to happen. There's simply no realistic way that 20 million illegal immigrants (or whatever the number is) could be caught and physically removed. Because of this, Trump's new plan would require some sort of penalty on businesses, which would reduce demand for illegal immigrant hiring. Whether these are aggressive penalties or not is up in the air, but I'd have to think that this would be part of it.
Based on what I have seen so far, Trump Administration 2.0 is going to be much more competent and efficient than Trump 1.0. Last time in 2016, he had to throw an administration together, and he then had to fight against people on the inside who opposed him. Now, he's got the people's mandate, and he has people in place who can help him, so I expect he'll get more things done this time.
Start with the criminals, then work their way down the list. Auslander Raus!
shareFirst he should stop the influx of new illegal immigrants.
That alone is a small victory.
Then criminals, felons, etc. You did something stupid? GTFO.
Then asylum seekers that are housed in hotels and other places: you know where they are ... ship them outside to wait for the decision at a port of entry. Or whatever.
Then sweep home depot parking lots, full of immigrants (some illegal) that are looking for some quick work.
And so forth.
There will token deportations only. The border will not be secured. Trump's big business buddies rely on a steady flow of cheap and easy to exploit labor to keep their costs low and profits high.
Trump is not likely to concentrate on keeping out the violent illegals. If he does, then who will he blame for illegal alien related crime?
"There will token deportations only. The border will not be secured. Trump's big business buddies rely on a steady flow of cheap and easy to exploit labor to keep their costs low and profits high."
This is what I'm thinking. I think there will be the token deportations that you mentioned and probably some small success with stopping people from coming in. It will be just enough that he can claim he was successful, but not too much that businesses get mad at him for taking away their cheap labor supply.
The MAGA let most of Trump's promises slip away unfulfilled with barely a comment or with some lame excuse. Trump thinks the MAGA are just that stupid and they shout out that they are that stupid.
1. Build the wall? "They" would not let him.
2. Make Mexico pay for it? Mexico refused, Trump compromised by making other promises of payment, but never followed through.
3. Put Clinton in prison? He decided she suffered enough.
4. Protect our civil rights? He decided a gun grab was better.
