"Don't be STUPID!!! We need a separate Border and Immigration Bill. It should not be tied to foreign aid in any way, shape, or form!" said Trump, who is running for reelection and is desperate to deprive President Joe Biden of a major legislative win ahead of the November vote.

With the White House race looking almost certain to be a rematch of 2020, the Republican former president has been hammering his Democratic successor over record numbers of undocumented migrants crossing the southern border.

Senators unveiled one of the harshest immigration bills in a generation Sunday, including significant restrictions that Biden has committed to signing into law.

The $118.3 billion package includes $60 billion for Ukraine, $14 billion for Israel, $10 billion in humanitarian aid, nearly $5 billion for Asia-Pacific partners including Taiwan, and $20 billion in new border funding.

It would be a major win for immigration hawks -- full of concessions that Democrats would normally have strongly opposed, such as the curbing of presidential discretion in allowing in refugees for humanitarian reasons, an expedited removal process and a mandate to close the border when apprehensions reach 5,000 daily.

It also includes none of the priorities Democrats typically push for, such as a path to citizenship for the country's estimated 11 million undocumented migrants.

But Trump has an iron grip on Republicans leading the House of Representatives, and has called repeatedly for the party to kill the legislation and deny Biden and his Democrats a political victory ahead of November's election.

"This Bill is a great gift to the Democrats, and a Death Wish for The Republican Party," Trump added.

"It takes the HORRIBLE JOB the Democrats have done on Immigration and the Border, absolves them, and puts it all squarely on the shoulders of Republicans."

As you can see in the bolded text, Trump urged republicans to kill this border bill simply because it also would've helped Biden and the democrats. Trump keeps hammering on and on about the border but when push came to shove he and the rest of the republicans killed the bill that would've increased funding for the borders.

I've lost track of the number of libs that have told me that Trump or my support of securing the border was racist.

Was it racist when Biden FINALLY decided to do something about it? Or the dems in congress that were going to vote for it, where they racist too?

It seems that the only reason lefties are suddenly in favor of controlling the border, is that they need to trick the voters into giving them another 4 years.

I made a comment on the actions of libs as a group and asked switchstar what those actions meant in the context of his op.

it seems important to hte issue. If border security is inherently racist, then we should face up to that, and ask ourselves, both republican and democrat, are we prepared to be racist?

OR, if it's NOT, then it's important that we not let false accusations of racism, stop us from having a serious and honest discussion of border security or immigration policy.

The border was BETTER under Trump and will be better again, under Trump because TRump actually WANTS to secure it.

It got WORSE under biden and harris, because they WANTED it to get worse, and they only reversed course on that when it started to hurt them politically.

AND the moment the election is over, if Harris wins, she will quietly start walking back any and all crackdowns they have done.

Harris is the status quo candidate that wants to keep the Turd World rolling it, while Trump wants less of that.

Personally I hope that Trump wins, improves the situation during his term and then we build on that to completely secure the border and shut down illegal immigration for generations.

You can certainly make valid criticism of his record on this, it is far from perfect.

BUT, your real motivation here is to talk him down BECAUSE you know that he is better on the border issue than Harris.

Trump spent his first 2 years blocking bipartisan border solutions because he couldn’t get funding for his wall (even Republicans opposed it) and he didn’t want anyone else getting credit for solving the crisis.

He did eventually get $15 billion (from the US not Mexico), built only 47 miles of new wall and, as we know, did not solve anything.

I'm not sure if you're serious here or not. No- 20b in border funds is not enough to approve 60b and 14b for Ukraine and Israel respectively.

Also the article does not state that "Trump urged republicans to kill this border bill simply because it also would've helped Biden and the democrats", it said he "has called repeatedly for the party to kill the legislation and deny Biden...". When it's paired with the opening quote of Trump's where he states that the border needs separate funding it's clear the issue is of a political nature.
