Good on you for being honest about it. Selling merch is just another way of fundraising, there are limits on how much personal cash a candidate can put towards a political campaign and it's done via a donation, that has the same limits all donations do.

Honestly, I would purchase a T-Shirt with his mugshot, but wouldn't be able to wear it any where near the Liberal University I work for as Public Safety.. Still, a year from now, it'll be interesting to see how all this unfolds because it's really not hurting him at all, but more hurting the Democrats..
