Career Over
lock him up
shareWhat a jerk. In some ways this is worse than a single, genuine racially-motivated attack on anyone. For some reason probably related to personal gain (sympathy qualifies), this creep decided to jump on the bandwagon of anti-Trump (anti-white) hatred and pour gasoline on the fire. In this climate he deserves jail time for that alone, but hopefully the Chicago PD will nail him for prosecutable crimes.
shareCareer over? Sadly, I doubt it.
First, a lot of people who had never heard of this jerk before now know who he is. As the old saying goes, there's no such thing as bad publicity; at least not for Hollywood types.
And don't expect the media to punish him. On the contrary, they'll praise him for it. The narrative is predictable. "He was driven to do it by White Privilege (Patent Pending). Oh, such a valiant warrior for the cause!"
There is such a thing as bad publicity. Look what happened to Mel Gibson.
shareIn all seriousness ... it could go either way.
True, there are exceptions to every rule. But in a weird way, Gibson's case supports my argument. On one of his many drunken rants he was taped making death threats to an ex. I just Googled for names and saw "Oksana Grigorieva"; IIRC she was the one Gibson threatened.
And he didn't just make a quick passing comment that might have been explained as a mere figure of speech that could have been misunderstood. He restated and elaborated it. Something like, "I'm serious. I will kill you. I will plant you six feet under the ground. Believe it." It's been a while, and I can't find the actual quote, but I do remember this incident and I'm confident that's pretty close.
In the same rant, Mel Gibson also used the N-word.
I consider myself a sane person. And the way I see it, a slur, or insult, or whatever you want to call it might be offensive. It might be extremely offensive. But at the end of the day, a death threat is far worse. Blow all the hot air at me you like, and I'll just say "sticks and stones"; but threatening to kill me is a quite different matter. And I assume anyone with more brains than the average tapeworm has to agree.
But the MSM doesn't see it that way. They jumped on the N-word immediately and stayed focused on that. So much so that it took them two full days to even notice that Gibson had quite possibly announced an intention to commit actual homicide.
Oh yes, race trumps everything else with these fools.
(CONTINUED)
But Smollett might be ruined by this. The modern Left recognizes that from time to time, some of its members must be sacrificed. Just as in the USSR, sometimes good, loyal Commies who had done nothing wrong were disposed of by criminal convictions, just because they had become inconvenient to have around; today's Left recognizes that its individual members will occasionally have to "take one for the team."
(I mention the USSR because the parallels between our modern situation and the history of Russia in the period from about 1800 to about 1950 are not only noticeable, but alarming. The mentality of those who wish to take over our society is not only the same, but so are the general strategies, and many of the specific tactics. But that's too much of a digression to get into here.)
If they pull their support for Smollett and consent to him suffering the fate the should suffer, this would carry the added advantage that they can claim, "Race baiting?! False flag incidents?! Oh no, we don't condone that! Look at that guy! He tried it, and look what happened to him!"
But in the end, I don't think so. I don't have a crystal ball, but here's what I think will happen. Smollett will be disgraced. He'll lose his role on Empire. He'll be convicted of the minimum possible criminal charge, but will do no actual jail or prison time. He'll go on TV and have a "frank, self-searching" conversation with Oprah. He'll commiserate with and be "understood" by the ladies of The View. He'll do his time in the wilderness, perhaps a year in exile. Then his career will resume, as strong as ever (not that it was ever that strong in the first place).
His career will be fine. What he did was racist, immoral, wrong, hurtful.
But:
He "started a discussion", which means he smeared the right people.

The liberal Hollywood tards will respect him more after this stunt. They are just sad he got caught.
