Guns N' Roses made some great songs. Outstanding live performances.
I was, however, disappointed to find out what Axl was really like. Oh well.
I always found Slash to be the only one worthy of the superstar status in that band.
shareI always thought GnR took all the great attributes from earlier rock bands like Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, etc. and made it their own. They were very good for 3-4 albums it's just that Axl was/is so unlikable that it was hard to stay a fan--not unsurprising considering his family background. I read one of the bio books and the breakup was explosive..a few years later one of them visited another one's house and it was so shocking they had totally gone their separate ways..they just showed their houses to each other, talked about their wives/kids and were simply nice to each other. Kind of like surviving a few war battles and then going home to different parts of the country. Honestly I think Axl caused 99% of the problems the rest of the band were victims of his wrath..after all Axl somehow got complete control of the band, they got some money are were OUT.
