Who was even aware he was a comedian?

Most people know he's that Fear Factor guy and from his awesome podcasts, maybe News Radio.

But when he sits around talking shop with comedians like he's one of the greats, I just have to laugh.

I never knew Joe Rogan was a comedian until recently.
I only know that he can be a very good interviewer.
Very good, but also very uneven.
Listens very well, lets the guest talk.
That counts for a lot ... even when the guest is being a jerk.
I like his patience.
Asks intelligent questions and makes good points.

He is a bit too hip with the celebrity crowd and comedians.

Overall I find him mostly likable and respect his talent.

On the other hand he does things like on the YouTube videos of the Joe Rogan Experience,
a pretty pompous title, where he says something like What's up Bitches.
I can be as foul mouthed as anyone, and am no prude, but I don't
need stupid on podcasts which are in general fairly smart.

Why do people have to pander to the neanderthals who respond to
stuff like "what's up bitches"? Oooh, he's cool, he said a dirty word.
That is so pre-adolescent ... i.e. moronic. I don't like this new thing
where almost all media panders to morons and their bad habits. I
don't like being called a bitch for watching his stupid show.

His podcast started years ago with a very small audience and has grown into the most popular podcast on the planet. One of the reasons it’s so popular is because he doesn’t pander to mainstream audiences. He haven’t changed much since he started and I admire that.

Me. He's been a stand up comedian for a lonnnng time. And at no point has he ever considered himself one of the greats. He just know a lot about it because he's done it for a while.

reply

He is/was a standup comic.

Not a great one.

However, there are some old vids on YT of him talking with hecklers that are pretty good.
Another one was when some crazy feminist was mad at him in a parking lot. LOL.

Only seen one special by him (after discovering his podcast) and yeah I don't think I laughed once. A smirk here and there. It was like watching a feminist standup.

Never got into podcasts. Knew him more from Newsradio.

But I did learn he was a comedian from the Carlos Mencia feud. Mencia wasn't even that popular but was still a much bigger deal than Rogan. That's probably why Rogan enjoyed the twisting the knife.

I looked it up as well out of curiosity. I'm glad he found his place in his podcasts, because I wasn't laughing.
