Robert Evans, the Paramount Pictures executive who presided over a range of big hits, died Oct 26, 2019, at age 89.
I listened to the audio book of the Kid Stays in the Picture a few weeks ago. Reminded me how great Robert Evans is.
One of my favorite documentaries, and one of my favorite books.
Very sad reading about his death today. I instantly thought about Jack Nicholson, his pal, and that Jack must feel very downcast at this moment.
He was a pretty despicable individual. A drug trafficker who no doubt was involved in the Cotton Club murder.
shareWrong. From the horse's mouth:
"Jacobs and her accomplices were convicted
for the murder of Roy Radin.
Me? Well, I wasn't even a suspect. I was a tangential character
in the proceedings, at best.
However, the name "Evans" gets ink. If you live by the sword,
know damn well you could die by it."
Lol! Of course that's what the guy himself said! Are you really that foolish???
"Under the advice of his attorney Robert Shapiro, Evans refused to testify during a May 1989 preliminary hearing, invoking the Fifth Amendment to avoid incriminating himself.[17] Police reports that had been submitted to obtain search warrants indicated at least two witnesses said Evans was involved in the Radin murder.[18]."
He also claimed he was just a user, even though he was convicted of trafficking. Get real.
Evans wanted to testify, but listened to his lawyer. He said it was hard as hell not to be able to tell the world he was innocent.
>> Police reports that had been submitted to obtain search warrants indicated at least two witnesses said Evans was involved in the Radin murder.
But of course you left out the next sentence: "when asked under oath if he knew Radin, Evans invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.[16] However, Greenberger later testified that Evans had no involvement in the crime.[17]"
Conveniently left that out, eh? Nice try.
Of course I left it out!
One, nothing in that sentence suggests he was never more than a "tangential character".
Two, YOU conveniently left out the next sentence that mentioned Greenberger's claim that she had been Evan's lover! How is she a reliable witness???
Again, of course he said he was willing to testify. He wanted to look good. Point is, he didn't testify!
I can't believe you're such a fool to use his word as evidence. I guess you believe John Wayne Gacy when he said he was innocent???
It's a fact that the DA refused to rule him out as a suspect.
>>I can't believe you're such a fool to use his word as evidence.
You're a flaming fool yourself. Why wasn't he convicted if he was guilty? Why wasn't he charged? Why wasn't he put in jail?
Let me help you with that one, because he was innocent.
So you actually believe that all guilty people in the world have been charged and convicted? Is that honestly and truly what you believe??? Because that's simply mindboggling. I guess Al Capone never killed anyone either, right?
The DA said they didn't have enough evidence to charge him, but the fact they never ruled him out as a suspect is very telling.
Now you can continue to be a gullible fanboy and believe he's innocent, but don't go around telling people he's never been a suspect.
Every case is different. You're comparing Robert Evans to Al Capone now?
Ok, son.
One, I'm not your or anyone's son.
Two, why shouldn't I compare them? Capone is a famous example of someone who was never charged and convicted of murder while everyone knows he's guilty. It proves your reasoning that Evans must be innocent makes no sense.
Let's be civil and just agree to disagree. I believe Robert Evans was innocent. He didn't have the "murderer gene" inside him. And besides, Would Jack Nicholson hang around with a killer? Come on.
shareI never said you don't have the right to believe he's innocent. This was simply about the suggestion that he was never a suspect just because the guy himself said so.
Why wouldn't he? Nicholson isn't exactly the most scrupulous person in the world and it's a fact that Evans was a convicted drug trafficker. But do you think he knows more about the case than we do? Just like you, he probably just chooses to believe he's innocent, perhaps for personal reasons.
Meh....never even heard of him...
shareR.I.P...
I shall probably finally get around to The Sun Also Rises and The Kid Stays in the Picture, in his honour.
Umm, wtf is wrong with his face? It's like he got stage 3 burns from a fire.
