Once a big target for female jealousy

Maybe you don't remember. Hillary duff received death threats for dating a then 13 year old Aaron Carter from his rabid female fans. She was hounded by harassing letters, emails and in personal interactions from mostly other women out of jealousy. A major theme of the bullying was her ''weight'' and the young men she was dating. She quit her own show because of this in 2003. The Lizzie Mcguire show was set to go on for several years, Duff left the show because of ''emotional distress'' (there are a couple of old articles documenting this).

In my opinion, her career never recovered after she left the show. Yes she did music and movies but they weren't giving her the momentum the show gave her. Shame.

She left because she wanted more elsewhere, and got it. Nothing to do with bullying or fat shaming.

“Jealousy” means “fear of having something that belongs to you taken away by someone else.” The word you want to use for this topic is “envy,” which means “coveting something that someone else has.” The 2 words are not synonymous.

Not exactly, Kane.

"Jealousy" means "resentment of another person's good fortune coupled with a desire to put an end to that good fortune". jealousy is often precipitated by envy, but it is not envy, per se.

"Fear of having something that belongs to you taken away", is generally only a minor component of Romantic jealousy.

But one can be jealous of a workmate's promotion, or a friend's Lottery win, or a mother's new baby, or a rival sporting club's selection - or, in the case of women, of another woman's notable attractiveness.

Fear of being deprived is rarely a component in jealousy.

She didn't actually quit "Lizzie McGuire." In the early 2000s, Disney Channel had a rule where they only let their tv shows go for three seasons (90s episodes, on average). Exceptions to this rule were made if the show was super-popular, like when they brought "Kim Possible" back for a fourth season. It was always in the plan to end "Lizzie McGuire" with Season 3, and because of Hilary Duff and her show's popularity at the time, the show was given a proper ending with a fun movie where she graduated Jr. High and went to Rome on a trip with her classmates.

To be fair, Hilary Duff actually did very well for a former child star, despite not being able to push her career in acting beyond a few solo films and albums. She ended up with a husband (after divorcing the first dirtbag) and a kid, and probably used her royalties to live a comfortable lifestyle with her family. Her mom did a good job protecting her during her years as a child star, and Hilary was better off in the long run because of it.

In fact, her fate has been far better than what happened to Aaron Carter.
