I know that a lot of actors play the same character in every movue but i thought that the definition of Acting was playing a character not playing yourself?

I think he's a really good actor, so I'm sure that with practice he could pull off a different accent, but maybe he just doesn't want to. When I read that quote of his, it seemed like he just didn't want to change himself. You know he is probably just really proud of his roots. Maybe he wants more in life than to be an amazing actor. His bio said that he was a good athlete and student, and that he studied fish biology or something like that, so maybe that's his true passion, not acting. But hey, its just a thought, I don't know that much about him...
