You misunderstand me. I said "Have YOU never heard, say, a stereotypical hillbilly or surfer or ganster character on tv/in movies and repeated their lines like they sound?". I didn't say stereotypical quotes, I was mentioning stereotypical characters. Its usually easy to repeat what they said just like they said it right? If you're an American and the accent of the character is say, French, you might have to say it a few times to get the pronounciation of the French accent correctly but it can be done fairly easily. So the way I see it, if Lucas Black had to play a French character and either hung out with a French guy or got a speech coach and went over his lines with them, he could totally nail the accent and recite all his lines with it. Might take some practice, depending on how hard it is for him, but its nowhere near impossible.
Besides, acting with an accent does sometimes bring more respect and acclaim to actors. When House, m.D. first came out a lot of people thought Hugh Laurie was American. If you saw Snatch, Brad Pitt's Romanian gypsy accent was insane. I could barely understand a word he said the first time around, but when I really listened the accent was amazingly executed. Even though I thought he was a good actor, I never really paid that much attention to him before but after I saw that, I respected him a lot more.
Just wanted to clear that up.
