Imagine if he's a misogynist behind closed doors.
It would be amazing if Paul Feig a guy who is very feminist who is secretly a misogynist himself.
shareIt would be amazing if Paul Feig a guy who is very feminist who is secretly a misogynist himself.
sharei wonder if these people who claim to be all perfect, tolerant and accepting never have generalizing thoughts of hatred when someone of another race or sex or sexual orientation wrongs them in some way or they do have them and and are able to rise above them or they are just full of shit fakers.
shareThe more somebody spews that kind of rhetoric, the more hateful they usually turn out to be. Most people who are marching for equality, for instance, are well-meaning people who want to see tolerance lifted up and are standing against discrimination, but a lot of the speakers at these rallies sooner or later get around to yapping something racist that is perceived as anti-racist because of the twisty logic and rhetoric that is rampant at such events.
Humans are weird.
i agree
shareThey seem to be haters themselves because they hate men and white people.
shareThere are plenty of jocks, politicians and religious leaders who are very anti gay who are gay themselves like minister George Alan Rekers who claimed he could make gay people straight but he was a closer homosexual himself who was caught with a male prostitute.
shareTelltale sign that someone maybe a hypocrite or faker is they always say one thing like Feig always going on about women's rights, calling men sexist etc.
shareA lot of there people who claim to be all perfect, tolerant and accepting all seem to be a piece of crap when they seem to hate men and white people.
sharethey are twofaced
shareYou see people who project one thing like social justice warriors going on about women's rights etc, look at Chris Cooper in American Beauty his character was so homophobic outwardly he hated homosexuals but towards the end he was a closet gay and went to kiss Kevin Spacey's character.
sharei pray for the day they are all exposed
shareI consider it really likely that he's harbouring some kind of untoward attitude with women. He comes off as the classic male feminist/white knight type who's trying to be pandering and obsequious so he can get a date or a pat on the head. At the extreme level, it's Beth's perception of Jerry from Rick and Morty.
Men who are really real feminists (ie, interested in stopping misogyny and treating the sexes as equal), don't usually talk about it and make a big show of their action; they just do it. This might be why perception of men is that they are, as a block, anti-woman neanderthals: the "good guys", however prevalent they are, aren't loud and are, therefore, largely unnoticed.
He's seems like one of those people who say one thing, he's always on about women's rights, being bro woman etc, look at Joss Whedon he was pretty much feminist to the point of what's happening now.
Look at Chris Cooper in American Beauty his character was so homophobic, outwardly he hated homosexuals until the end of the movie he was a closet gay and went to kiss Kevin Spacey's character.
I'm not entirely convinced that Joss Whedon isn't a feminist. He clearly has problems, but... I think of Whedon more like John Lennon. Lennon preached peace, love, tolerance, and feminism, but he also was angry, violent, and bounced women off of walls. But I don't think that's because Lennon was "do as I say, not as I do". He wasn't a hypocrite. My perception of Lennon is that he had a bunch of problems he was working through. I think Whedon wants the world to be a better place, he just has these problems for himself, too. That perception might shift depending on what Whedon says and does publicly at the moment.
I'm also mostly going off of some rumours around Whedon's conduct towards actors and crew on sets, not necessarily his ex-wife calling him a pig. That's...not conclusive. And just because somebody had an affair doesn't mean they aren't a sincere feminist.
I haven't found anything concrete and damning of Whedon. If you have an article or something from a credible source, by all means, share it out, but Whedon I think is probably a bit messed up, but well-meaning.
Cooper's character is classic. It happens all the time in real life. How many Republican anti-homosexual politicians have been caught in rest stops now? It's a LOT.
There's a lot of quotes from actors talking about Whedon's behaviour over the years, being described as a egomaniac.
There's George Alan Rekers a man who was very anti gay who was caught with a male prostitute.
There's Bill Cosby whose comedy is build around family values and he was secretly raping women.
Would be hilarious if Feig got caught saying or doing something really misogynistic, have it taint his body of work when his claim to fame was gimmicky female comedies.
Whedon's behavioural issues, which I've read about a bit (although not exhaustively), seem more (as you say) egomaniacal than anti-woman. Are there stories of Whedon specifically ripping on females on set? It seems like the stories more point towards him having a very specific vision and getting angry when people don't toe his line. That's not good behaviour (although perfectionism is admirable, screaming at people is not acceptable), but it's not misogynistic, per se.
shareThere's Star Wars author Chuck Wendig he was pretty much feminist to the point of - have this article explain it https://boundingintocomics.com/2020/07/03/fiction-author-jaym-gates-claims-former-star-wars-author-chuck-wendig-stomped-all-over-women-to-prove-hes-the-best-feminist/
shareThere are probably are plenty of male feminists who are secretly womanizers.
shareGoogle Michael Kimmel.
shareWho did gender studies to the point of being accused of sexual harassment.
shareWho used gender studies as a sexual harassment smokescreen... People hide their vices behind righteous indignation all the time.
shareIt's a weird strange thing with the human condition where certain people say one thing and do another like the guy you mentioned who does gender studies but does sexual harassment behind closed doors, and with a lot of religious leaders and politicians who are anti gay who are actually closet homosexuals.
Maybe some of the SJW writers at Forbes are secretly not so woke behind closed doors.
I would think that many are not. This might be too cynical, but I tend to think that a lot of the people clamouring loudest about woke stuff don't really care, they just want power. The ones who fall in line ("good allies") are just trying to keep their jobs and not get swept under. They choke down any misgivings they have due to a combination of wanting to do the right thing (coupled to confusion), and wanting to stay out of the crosshairs.
shareYou notice people who hide behind righteous indignation because project one thing like always on about being pro woman.
shareAlso imagine if any of the Forbes writers who are very SJW are secretly not very SJWs themselves.
shareThere some women feminists who are saying "men are pigs" but do something like post a picture of themselves on social media in a seductive pose.
shareWouldn't surprise me. A lot of showboaty male feminists out there are secretly pigs themselves who will jump at any chance they have to stick their dick in a woman's vagina. Joss Whedon, anyone?
shareWould it ruin his credibility if he turned out to be a closet womanizer?
shareProbably not, unfortunately, as adultery is one of the few crimes celebrities are always relieved of taking blame for. Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson, and Clint Eastwood were all notorious womanizers, yet no one seems to care enough about who they stick their dick into to not see their movies. If we want to get this asshat cancelled, we're going to need to find something he did that's far worse than banging some hoe who ain't his wife.
shareExposed as a womanizer would make him a liar and a hypocrite when all his films are gimmicky female parodies.
Worse thing would be abuse.
There probably feminists who outwardly hate men who are secretly a seducer of men by posing in a sexual manner like on social media or something.
