I hate how everyone acts like an abortion is just a surgical procedure. As far as I'm concerned abortion is wrong and I will never relate to anyone who thinks it's perfectly okay.

reply

How is it wrong?

reply

It's murder. Duh!

reply

ALL abortions are murder? We can argue about late-term abortions, but are you seriously claiming that aborting in the early stages is murder? A clump of cells is not a person, bro.

reply

You can tell yourself that all you want bro, but it's murder. End of story.

reply

I guess that makes masturbation manslaughter

reply

Open your heart. You will find the truth.

reply

I guess that makes masturbation manslaughter

Well, no.

Neither is contraception or abstinence for that matter. The difference is that human life begins when your sperm fertilizes an egg. That's where life begins.

reply

according to whom?

reply

It's science.

reply

I see.

"The definition of life has long been a challenge for scientists and philosophers. This is partially because life is a process, not a substance. This is complicated by a lack of knowledge of the characteristics of living entities, if any, that may have developed outside of Earth. Philosophical definitions of life have also been put forward, with similar difficulties on how to distinguish living things from the non-living. Legal definitions of life have also been described and debated, though these generally focus on the decision to declare a human dead, and the legal ramifications of this decision. As many as 123 definitions of life have been compiled" source:Wiki

reply

How silly. Of course it's life, despite what that impeachable source that is Wikipedia says (we all know that there is never personal or biased opinion edited into Wikipedia).

Every human that has ever walked on the Earth has started as a live fertilized egg and grown until they die, at which point they will rot and decay at the cellular level.

reply

What's silly about the article? It basically states that the definition is controversial. Do you disagree?

reply

Of course I disagree. The definition is not controversial - human life is a biological fact and it begins the instant the male sperm fertilizes a female egg.

It's like dealing with flat Earthers - they also believe a global Earth is controversial.

Look, I used to be in your camp when I was younger, but eventually, I could no longer lie to myself and I yielded to the reality of science.

human life is a biological fact

I see what you did there.

Why did you truncate the full quote?

reply

the definition of "life" is obviously a controversial matter. that's what i wrote. i'm not even into the specifics of abortion. which is, in my opinion, a controversial matter too. and i am certainly not in any "camp" (let alone the "choice" one). but this is a very complex and morally difficult terrain and statements like aborting a few hours old clump of cells is "murder" is ridiculous. unless you're one of those religious blokes.

reply

the definition of "life" is obviously a controversial matter.

We're just going to have to disagree on that.

...unless you're one of those religious blokes.

I'm not. On my best day I'm agnostic, most days (like today) I'm an atheist.

But I don't think abortion is strictly a religious/atheist argument although there is a definite component to it. There are scientific facts which cannot be ignored. You don't like the word "murder"? That's fair, but no matter what word salad we toss, the medical act of an abortion means the living and growing "clump of cells" are ripped apart and discarded into a medical waste container where they stop their growth and cell division and immediately begin to decay. Whatever you want to call that clump of cells is now dead. That is scientific fact.

reply

If a woman has a child and two days later the child dies there is a funeral.
If a woman is pregnant and has a miscarriage in the 4th month is there a funeral?

Many times a conception occurs and fails before even the mother knows.

There is a point where we do not treat a successful conception as a person. IF you truly believe that life beings at conception you should not only be against abortion but also FOR treating all successful conceptions the same.

reply

We're all just "clumps of cells", that doesn't mean we're not human. Abortion is murder.

She complained on television about men saying "We're pregnant" when their wives are pregnant. That's a sign of a disgruntled corporate leftist.

I'm not a fan of the overused word "cringe", but "we're pregnant" is cringe.

reply

Nah. Let people express their happiness the way they want to.

reply

Agree. Back when my wife was pregnant, I'd say she was pregnant. I'd also say my wife and I were going to have a baby, but I would never say my wife and I were "pregnant".

reply

Who cares? Can she perform the roles in the movies she is cast in? Her personal opinions and life should be hers and I have more respect for any celebrity, woke or not, who keeps it that way.

reply

No she's Ukrainian. Ukrainians are evil.

I heard something recently from her that was positive. Evidently she and Ashton Kutcher have been doing genuine work for some charity to help the less-fortunate, and they didn't make a big deal about it to the press. They've been pretty low-key about it, not once bragging to the paparazzi.
