Kathleen Kennedy: One Of The Worst Film Resumes Of All Time

This is just from glancing at her wikipedia page, Take a look at all the movies she was executive producer on:

Young Sherlock Holmes (1985)
Fandango (1985)
An American Tail (1986)
Batteries Not Included (1987)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
Back to the Future Part II (1989)
Dad (1989)
Tummy Trouble (1989)
Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990)
Roller Coaster Rabbit (1990)
Back to the Future Part III (1990)
Joe Versus the Volcano (1990)
An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (1991)
Cape Fear (1991)
A Brief History of Time (1991) (uncredited)
Noises Off (1992)
Schindler's List (1993)
We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story (1993) (BOMB)
A Dangerous Woman (1993)
A Far Off Place (1993)

Oh, and don't forget such gems as:
The Flintstones (1994)
The Best of Roger Rabbit (1996) (Direct to VHS)
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
Signs (2002)
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

As a producer she's responsible for such cinematic masterpieces as:

War of the Worlds (2005)
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007)
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)
Hereafter (2010)
The Adventures of Tintin (2011)
War Horse (2011)
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)

And don't forget:
Congo (1995)

But as you know, my opinion doesn't matter, because if I criticize Kathlene Kennedy that must mean I am a total misogynist and that I somehow hate all women.

Get a life you pathetic loser.

She's no Harvey Weinstein or Arnon Milchan, but there are some good movies on her resume, like Back to the future sequels, Schindler's List or Signs. War of the worlds was ok, Curious case of Benjamin Button, while the least interesting movie from David Fincher, its still a quality production which got Academy Awards nominations.

reply

I'm going to say something that isn't said enough, and needs to be said more: The Back to the Future sequels sucked ass.

The first BBTF was good, I don't dispute that, but those sequels were fan service, not films.

reply

All of the movies pre Disney she had little to no creative input in them. Imagine if she opened her mouth about Schindler's List. Yikes.

reply

Not a bad résumé. But did she actually have any creative input in one single movie on this list?

reply

Doubtful, because since the time she became *the* person at LucasFilm she has done nothing but run franchises into the ground. She has feasted off the creativity of men who allowed her to help produce their cinematic ideas. She's probably an early example of a diversity hire, first by Milius and later Spielberg. Now that she has more creative control than ever on what gets produced, she's capable only of picking clean the bones of the past. She isn't even good at that. By contrast, the utterly mediocre and derivative JJ Abrams has at least made a decent stab at imitating the past, with satisfactory pablum like Super 8 and the mainly inoffensive Star Trek reboot (the first one only).

reply

"Not a bad résumé."

Are you joking? THESE pieces of utter waste: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

Jurassic Park The Lost World (One of the worst movies of all time)

War of the Worlds??? The TOM CRUISE version? Another absolutely terrible movie.
Signs...? Piece of shit. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? That was literally THE absolute WORST movie, ever made, even worse than Manos Hands of Fate.

A bunch of early 90s movies I don't have to look up to know they bombed.

The Flintstones movie? That was a bunch of nice looking sets and props, with no plot or story to be seen for miles.

The only thing good on her entire resume is Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

reply

The far majority of movie fans don't even know what an executive producer does. However, it can be anything from input into a film, to collecting the money to do the film, to even be an executive producer only in name.

The jury is still out on what she actually did on all those films. However, it's safe to say since she became boss of Lucasfilm, meddling was her top priority.

reply

"The far majority of movie fans don't even know what an executive producer does."

They make cuts to director's work when it's already finished. That's what they do.

They are a useless position, all they do is censor things, cut out anything to risque. Orson Welles said the producers hated him because he could do everything, so there was no need for a producer. Which is 100% true.

reply

Everyone in the business seems to think she's one of the greats. I never hear a bad word about her from them, and they would know.

reply

Who in the business wants to be labeled a sexist pig for daring to criticize an egomaniacal woman with a bad temper?

reply

You mean the movie business which is a complete joke now and makes utter shit movies non stop ? Oh, those people said she was great? Hm.

Did anyone with any talent or artistic merit say she was great? Because I don't think there are any of them left in Hollywood.
