We all know the reason she is still the boss in Lucasfilm..
She is reccomended by Spielberg. Otherwise she would have been fired a long time ago.
shareShe is reccomended by Spielberg. Otherwise she would have been fired a long time ago.
shareYeah, I'm sure all the billions she's made them has no effect on her job status.
shareStar Wars 9 was expected to make way more money than Star Wars 7. Instead it made way way less money. Or do you really believe that Disney was ok with that? Star Wars value gradually decresead, thats a fact. I dont think they are ok with that. Dont underestimate the good old Spielberg's power. The guy still rules Hollywood.
shareDisney admitted they put out too much Star Wars content too fast, which led to the lower box office for Solo and The Rise of Skywalker, and have rested the films for the time being. The tv side of things, which Kennedy is also in charge of as head of Lucasfilm, has been incredibly successful.
I really don't see how Spielberg has any sway in her keeping or losing her job, but keep believing whatever you'd like.
They didn't put out too much Star Wars content, they put out shitty content. Remember in the early days you had weekly serials like Flash Gordon that came out every week in the theaters. It wasn't too much then it wouldn't be too much now... but you can't put out shit and expect people to accept it and say thank you for fucking me out of my money can you fuck me again please... it doesn't work like that. The quality of the last 3 was piss poor and the result was poor box office receipts.
shareI would say you are dead-on, thomas!
shareMoron alert.
People would literally watch a new Star Wars every month if they were any good, but they suck.
You are correct in one regard. Spielberg is a longtime close friend of George, and KK knows him pretty well. Despite not being as visible these days, Spielberg still holds a lot of clout in Hollywood, and one of the reasons people theorize that she was chosen to lead Lucasfilm was because she was on good terms with him. It's one of the only ways one could become head of Lucasfilm, and it was a very short list.
There were rumors a year or two ago that they couldn't get rid of KK because she had info on some of Epstein's "clients" within Hollywood, and if anyone in the Disney corporation tried to fire her, she'd "burn down Lucasfilm" on her way out. I'm guessing she is using blackmail. But now, because she has been losing the company money with her substandard films, she's on the outs with a lot of people higher up. While sucking up to the boss works for a while, even he's not gonna like you if you're losing his company too much money. Meanwhile, John Favreau and Dave Filoni are on the rise, and it's not looking too good for KK right now.
Favreau and Filoni surely will be way better for Lucasfilm
shareKK is staying. Well, KK is going, but KK is staying put.
I get this information from the Future Ruler of Earth, Dicktor Van Doomcock.
But since he can't seem to fucking make up his mind what's going on, I'm gonna wait until she's OFFICIALLY GONE.
He has never claimed what was happening, he reports what hus sources inform him abd when he cant verify he says so.
shareReality. The presidency of Lucasfilm isn't decided by the traumatised egos of internet nerds.
shareWe are fans complaining about shitty movies. On a movie discussion forum. Your presence here indicates that you think that type of thing is valid.
I was a child when the first Star Wars movie came out. Han Solo was one of the coolest characters ever, in my opinion.
The adult me was not even tempted by the stand alone Solo film.
Do you understand how much work that took, to prevent me from giving my money to Disney?
Hint: It was not because I grew so much as a person, to leave behind "childish things".
No I'm just responding to the bullshit theories in the thread about why Kennedy is still president at Lucasfilm. I've said nothing about people wanting to complain about certain movies.
If you want to talk about movies. I loved The Force Awakens, liked Rogue One and thought The Last Jedi was fantastic. And yet I still didn't go to see Solo in the cinema. I was tired. Mostly tired of the bullshit controversy that surrounded all those films. It gets to a point where it's like attending a family get together. You just feel like it's going to be well attended anyway and you won't be missed if you just stay at home and avoid the drama.
When I bought Solo on blu ray and watched it, I loved it. Couldn't believe it didn't do well. Still, it's the only film out of the five that didn't do very well.
No, it's because they have too much invested in the narrative of KK as a "powerful and successful female studio chief". In reality, she badly mismanaged both Star Wars as a creative property and Lucasfilm as a studio. Yes, she earned some money, but she also left billions of dollars on the table, mortally damaged the value of the franchise in the eyes of many fans and wrecked the credibility of Lucasfilm among industry professionals with her constant interference, flip-flops and firings.
She was a competent "project manager"-type film producer. She got things done and freed people like Lucas and Spielberg to focus on the creative aspects of filmmaking.
As a studio head, she is the Peter Principle in action. A dilettante run amok. As some point, Disney will ease her out of the job, masking the move as either retirement or as a "promotion" to some executive role at Disney.
TexasJack nailed it. The only reason she is still head of Lucasfilm (at least in a figurehead capacity at this point) is because Disney knows they will get blow back from the Woke, SJW, Simp, Soyboy, Femnazi crowd if they fire her. In reality she is the very definition of the Peter Principle, and would have been fired from any other business by now, but feminism reigns supreme these days, and woke lunatics run everything so...
shareBecause the sequels each made a billion, are better reviewed than the prequels, and Mando is successful?
