Why do we think the dust-up with The Fresh Prince wasn't staged?

Will Smith was laughing along with Rock, before the slap, and CR continued to joke around afterwards. This was no different than Gervais setting the stage for all those political speeches by actors a couple of years ago, when he opened the ceremony by roasting celebs for acting as if they're more important and deep than they really are

It’s always the dim-witted default to suggest something like this was....staged, LOL.

What would either of them gain by staging something so negative?

Why would Will Smith want to sully his big moment of finally winning an Oscar?

Did you see the raw emotion when Smith returned to his seat and was screaming f-bombs?

Did you see the disaster of an acceptance speech after he won his Oscar?

Are you aware of their history and the bad blood between them?

Do you think they conspired with, and got buy-in from, the producers and security team...ensuring Will would not get thrown out or arrested?

I could continue...but fuck, you’re just too naive to bother.

No more so than automatically believing that such things are genuine rather than staged, and never pondering the probability that things might not be as they appear

The Academy Awards is getting more press than it's gotten in eons, thanks to this event. The broadcast has seen it's rating plummet further and further every year for nearly two decades now. It's not far fetched to believe that the producers may be resorting to unconventional tactics, as a means of pulling viewers back in

That's assuming that the producers didn't concoct this entire stunt themselves

Why would Will Smith want to sully his big moment of finally winning an Oscar?

Far from sullying his big moment, his slapping Rock before winning is going to make this moment even more memorable as the years go on

Are you aware of their history and the bad blood between them?

An alleged history, that we're all just hearing about now. If there was so much bad blood, why did Smith laugh at anything Rock said, prior to the encounter?

Did you see the raw emotion when Smith returned to his seat and was screaming f-bombs?

If that's what counts as raw emotion in modern day America, it's easy to see why our homicide rates continue to drop precipitously with each passing year. We really may actually be getting too chill for our own good

Did you see the disaster of an acceptance speech after he won his Oscar?

It was infinitely more intelligible than Joaquin Phoenix's babbling about ecological destruction and farm animals being milked for their semen, during his acceptance speech for Joker

Notwithstanding whether or not it was staged, the slap was REAL, because in order to it to be fake it would require careful placement of the camera (like the do in the movies), and for everyone in attendance plus the ground crew involved in the deception. The fact that the sound of physical contact was clearly audible means the entire sound crew were in on it as well. If ANYONE in the audience was not in on it, the risk is someone in the crowd would see it from another angle and be aware that no contact was made. This is in addition to all these points above. What was gained by it? Future ratings? Given how intensely anti-Hollywood many people have become this is a dubious strategy.

Your not too intelligent if you think this is staged.
