Be nice

I am surprised by the unkindness toward her. So she left Cheers to make movies. She was there five years, which is a long time for an actor to play the same character. She contributed a lot to the success of the show. If she's been going through a hard time, she should get some compassion.

I agree about Julia Stiles. She is often miscast. It is generally acknowledged (and she admits this publicly) that she is "The Quiet Girl" of her generation of actresses who doesn't generate a lot of publicity. She keeps her private life private and hasn't had to go to rehab. It's an unfortunate fact that the old Hollywood cliché is often true. The only bad publicity is no publicity. This limits her roles. As you say, perhaps "The Bell Jar" will be her ticket to critical and popular success. I hope so.
