The Homeless.

You've had since 2005 to help assist the homeless. You can't help to donate homeless shelters in over 15 years??

I don't understand why 2 weeks quarantine is so terrifying, especially if you have heaps of money. So you sit around in a flash hotel room or your own house for 2 weeks. Oh the horror!

I support the homeless who are trying to help themselves out of poverty and/or addiction. HOWEVER, the large contingent of homeless encampment dwellers in and around Venice Beach are mostly vagabond and socially irresponsible and selfish dopers and interlopers. There are also mentally ill homeless, but the ACLU insists on not putting them under wardens of the state government because they say their freedom to die slowly as homeless and untreated mentally ill vagrants is "their choice".

It's also the fault of that city's government who allow this behavior to exist. There are dozens of nearby beach towns in L.A. and Orange County that don't allow people to pitch tents on public lands and do drugs. Venice Beach however does, so the dopers inevitably take advantage of it.

I have a question for you, and for everyone else who thinks all the homeless are beyond help:

Would you rather have them sleeping on the beach or streets, and making public nuisances of themselves, or out of sight in the sort of flophouses that don't exist any more, or other forms of low-income housing?

reply

I never said that they're beyond help and I support the fact it will cost billions to rehabilitate the addicted and mentally ill.

Every city needs to take care of their own... not oppress them at the city gates.

The rich wants them eliminated from society, which gives law enforcement the right to abuse them.

Every city needs to provide their OWN homeless shelter and those with social issues can reside at an ALF. An ALF would provide both independence and supervision, but of course, it would have to be a state paid ALF - or again, let every city own a recycle center to fund it... or something similar.

If all it takes is money then that hardly seems the problem, especially in California. The problem is the oppressors at city level who allow discrimination against the poverty class.

Maybe he doesn't want to? No one is under any obligation to help anyone. People are pissing and shitting in the streets in CA - and have been for a few years now - but good old Mick is the bad guy because he's disgusted by it? How is that rational?
