I’ve had dinner with her.

It was not a date. I was headed for a nightclub that was inside a Boston restaurant. En route to the nightclub part of the establishment, I passed by a large dinner party comprising people who know me. They asked me to join them, so I did. I was seated opposite a charming and vivacious lady who was a good conversationalist. I thought, “She looks a lot like Dana Delaney.” Of course I wasn’t going to put her on the spot in front of the whole party, but, when the table broke up, I asked her, and she confirmed her identity! She was so nice, so down to earth and real. I asked her kinda shyly, “Miss, are you Dana Delaney?”—and I NEVER do “shy.” She confirmed her identity and tolerated me telling her how much I’d loved China Beach. No, of course I didn’t ask for an autograph or a selfie. She and I had met as peers. I’ve also met Nicholas Cage, Prince, The Talking Heads and Queen, and they—every one—could not have been more humble and hospitable.

Apropos humility: My favorite friend from college came to Harvard to do her Doctorate. She invited me to a party to meet her favorite professor. He was a very dignified gentleman. When my friend introduced us, he clicked his heels lightly, bent slightly forward at the waist and quietly said, “My name is Bloch.”

I later did some research on Professor Block. The man has won a fucking Nobel Prize. He’s one of Harvard’s Laureates. Lesson in all of this: the more truly accomplished someone is, the less s/he toots her/his own horn.

🤔

She has remained quiet about this encounter which leads me to believe that it wasn't pleasant and she'd rather no one know that she was once in your presence.

reply

And? Do you feel better now?

reply

Hey, thanks for a nice tale that is a rarity around here in a nest full of nasty trolls and bitter people.

Wish more people would add things like this.

reply

HE'S PROBABLY IGNORING YOU...HE HAS EVERYONE ON IGNORE.

reply

I second this.

reply

He is a troll. He has about 90% of people on his ignore list including people that no one hates.

I came across a man in blue tights, red boots, a red cape and had a big "S" across his chest who was with a bunch of friends. They invited me to dinner. He looked like Superman. I didn't want to put him on the spot in front of the others. Afterward, I asked him if he was in fact Superman and he said yes, he was.

I then asked him if he could move my Toyota out of the ditch that I had accidentally driven it into. Those tow trucks are expensive, you know! 😉

It might have been humorous if it had been humorous.

reply

Better than the shite you post on here, boy.

reply

You know, a person makes a nice post, and then morons like you come along and hijack it with stupid shit that isn't even humorous. It wasn't even funny in the least. Just a juvenile attempt at what?

reply

Actually, it was funny. You know, a person makes a little joke, and then morons like you come along and put them down with stupid shit for no good reason. Just a juvenile attempt at what?

Nice!

reply

Did you tell her I loved her full nude scene in Exit to Eden?

reply

OMG did she really do that? Not classy!

reply

Not classy according to who? And why?

She’s been nude in more than one film and on stage in plays.

So have most Oscar winning and nominated actresses dating back to 1970.

So what’s your issue with it?

reply

Yes, she did a full nude scene in the film which is very erotic. She looks great.

reply

Gave a whole new meaning to butter.

reply

Now I feel like I have to watch the film again. Butter?

reply

"It was not a date" don't worry bro, nobody thought it was a date
