Dana Delany's Lois Lane voice was everything that fans of the comic books loved about the character. Her Lois was snappy, tenacious and fearless, doing anything to get to the bottom of a story. She was especially based on the version of Lois from the Golden Age of Comics, which gave her a biting competitive edge against Clark Kent. While her voice initially carried a tinge of resentment or disdain for the mild-mannered yokel from Kansas, it eventually gave way to respect. Likewise, the way in which Lois came to life concerning Superman and romantically admired him was quite palpable through Delany's voice. This made it clear that even a tough-as-nails reporter had been swept off her feet (literally) by her Man of Steel.
Something that many fans don't realize is the way in which Dana Delany's Lois Lane influenced the character going forward. Her habit of calling Clark "Smallville" actually originated in Superman: The Animated Series, and it would show up later in the comics, the TV series Smallville and the Arrowverse/Superman & Lois. This alone goes to show just how much of an impact Delany made on the character, with many considering her synonymous with Lois Lane at this point. Now, a new generation is hearing a different voice for the classic DC leading lady, but given how much Lois was forever changed by her voice in the DCAU, there's undoubtedly a bit of Dana Delany to be heard in even My Adventures with Superman.
