Oscar nomination Sicario?

His performance to me rivals Bardems in No Country for old Men. It's also one of the most interesting characters in the last few years. He is deserving of an Oscar win for his performance the last to scene are a masterclass in subtle acting at its finest. What do you guys think.

Well, first off,it is not uncommon for a prosecutor to have some military backgound over there...Second,you create your own timeline for Alejandro,I notice. All we now is that he is between 45 and 50 years old. We´re not told when the tragedy happened. Let´s say it happened when he was 38. He spent a year drinking and snorting etc...it didn´t help and he wanted revenge no matter what and the Colombians were more then happy to help out.

He gains his skills, improves them over a 5-6 year period and now,he is back in his homecountry, which he has been for maybe a few years, clipping cartel guys, slaughtering them and becoming a myth of sorts;"Medellin". Unlikely but not unrealistic,he was driven.

So I have to disagree there...but hey, maybe the Academy reasoned or figured things out the way you did. If you don´t spell it out and facts aren´t carved in stone, the logical conclusion is people will assume what they see fit,not what is likely based on the storys premise and setting.
