Oscar nomination Sicario?

His performance to me rivals Bardems in No Country for old Men. It's also one of the most interesting characters in the last few years. He is deserving of an Oscar win for his performance the last to scene are a masterclass in subtle acting at its finest. What do you guys think.

Completely agree

He definitely deserves a nomination to say the least. But to be honest, I don't think he'll get one. The whole movie has been discarded in all award ceremonies so far because there were no campaigning or good marketing, which is a shame because it's one of my top 10 this year and I think it deserves at least nominations for best supporting actor and best cinematography.

I totally approve. He was great in the movie.

What a lovely day

He was so awesome in this movie! His every scene kept me perched on the edge of my couch clutching my hands tightly. His portrayal of Alejandro reminded me of his phenomenal acting. Yes, he should definitely get a nomination. He needs to make more movies for sure.

Great performance, Benicio!

He was great, but I believe he won't receive an oscar because of the character's unrealistic premise -- lawyer/prosecutor turned columbian insider turned masterful military/intelligence operator with amazing skills of interrogation to boot? His skills with the handgun and m-4 are themselves amazing -- all gained in the span of a few years since the murder of his daughter and wife? Just completely over-the-top -- basically covering up a major hole in what otherwise could have been a great script and film.

Absolutely! He was amazing in that movie!

I wanted to start a thread about exactly the same thing, great acting in the movie

reply

Absolutely! Notice, however, that the people who vote for the nominees did not nominate one - not one - person of color this year. And no matter whether the film was hyped sufficiently or not, great acting is great acting. Guess I'll boycott the Oscars this year and next year and the next....until diversity is truly respected.
