Why did he make too few movies after a certain point?

Is it simply because he reacted to failure by overthinking and taking too long on the next project? And was Warren's biggest problem was that he always insisted on absolute control over every detail once he became a big star, even when he wasn't directing? And was he also simply not smart enough to be given all that control?

There have been rumors about health issues floating around for years.

Once Bettty settled down in his mid 50's and started having kids he stopped making movies. Plus, almost anything he touched after 1986 was box office poison.

Hold on. Town & Country flopped, yes. But, Dick Tracy did over 100 mill, and Bugsy almost 50 (not a blockbuster-type film) and was a hit with the critics and got nominated for tons of oscars. Bullworth did all right, but not great.
