best movie?

Thats why I never think of movies that way. Same with music, bands etc.

I never see the point of choosing one over all of the others. I like many of them equally, though maybe not all.

And you will never get a consensus about it either, because there is no definitive answer. It is literally whichever one YOU think is best.

Similarly with newspaper and critics polls telling us that via a certain set of established criteria, they will do a top 100 movies and decide which one is number one, ie what they consider to be the best film if all time.

And very few people ever agree with them and will moan about certain movies being included, or others being left out. To me they are pointless. What each individual thinks is what matters.

Another by product of such polls is the people who have not seen the top rated movie and they decide to watch it expecting to be wowed because its apparently the 'best film ever made' . Disappointment inevitably follows.

Citizen Kane often figures highly in such polls for example. I think its a very good movie, and extremely well made. Probably a little ahead of its time even. But not the best ever made. Not for me.
