Could he play James Bond?

Some of you may already know that Roger Moore suggested Cuba as the next person to play James Bond after Pierce Brosnan. Obviously that didn't happen, but that doesn't mean it can't happen in the future.
Personally, I don't think he fits the bill. I'm not saying that because he's black, but because he just doesn't seem very Bond-ish.

Roger Moore was probably just trying to be nice because he was in "Love Boat", or whatever the movie was called, with Cuba. But him as James Bond? He could only do a parody of Bond and it would still bomb so hard.

I don’t think he could be a James Bond. It has nothing to do with Race. A younger Denzel Washington could plan James Bond

Bond, no. Felix Leiter, yes.

Well, having James Bond suddenly show up as a black American would definitely be weird, to say the least, considering the character is very firmly cemented in the public consciousness as a white Englishman. Does Gooding have any skill with accents? It would be like doing a Sherlock Holmes movie with, say, Chow Yun-Fat as Holmes. It's just weird.

And considering that Gooding (as far as I can see) is largely regarded now as a hack actor who would do anything for the money and has been coasting on a lucky Oscar win...that's probably not the kind of person they want to play Bond.

If he gained a few pounds, he might make a good Charlie Chan, but the racial stereotypes would need to be toned down. I'm thinking something along the lines of The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan, but not so 1970s-ish. The technobabling brainiac would also need to be ditched or at least dialed down just a bit unless you want another Billy Cranston.

I have no problem whatsoever with a Black James Bond. But he must be able to speak with a British accent. What about Chiwetel Ejiofor?

12 Years An Agent?
Dammit, DeRo!! That was terrible, even by your usual standards!
Hey, *beep* you! At least I'm trying!
I would say try harder but that would only encourage your dumbass attempt at humor.
Like you could do any better.
Well, no; we're the same person.
