Yes he did. I have difficulties to choose just three. I have a soft spot for The Fury, nobody seems to mention. Its not his best movie, though. Its a more adventurous and bombastic version of Carrie. I only know that The Untouchables isn't in the top three. It seems to be on almost every list.

Honorable mention: Body Double

Full disclosure: I haven't seen all of his films, yet. And my list isn't arguing that these are his best films as pertains to filmmaking so much as my own personal favorites.
