I've heard he's an asshole, but Chevy was a talented comedic actor who made some classic comedies.

Give me an asshole who can act and be funny (Chevy), over a nice guy who everyone loves but makes crap films (Will Ferrell)

Will Ferrell has too big of a following for his movies to be easily dismissed as crap. And I think some honorable mentions are Stranger Than Fiction and Everything Must Go.

I guess he's just not my cup of tea. I liked Elf, it's a good movie. but that's it.

Maybe it's just the quality of scripts and directors he gets, but stuff that people consider to be legendary like 'Anchorman' just aren't funny at all to me, and I can watch and enjoy comedies featuring the likes of Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Danny McBride, Zach Galifianakis and Jason Sudeikis. But Ferrell? His films are godawful, either thanks to him or the filmmakers or both.

Ferrell is polarizing - there are a LOT of people who can't stand him, myself included. IMO, he absolutely ruins every single thing he's in.

Supposedly, Bill Murray talked him out of taking a role in Ghostbusters because he was afraid Chevy would try to upstage him.

chase appeared in at least two of mel’s lethal weapon behind the scenes video diaries so i would think they’re friendly and couldn’t see a reason why they wouldn’t still be friendly. i would bet mel finds the vacation movies hilarious.

chase and idle worked together in vacation 2 but they also got together to write australian vacation and again i’m guessing they’re still friendly.

chase and murray seem to have made up.

Dan Harmon had a beef with the Chevy to the levy but he doesnt hate him. Theyve since made peace. He talks about it in Harmontown 2014.

I read that Chevy and Daryl Hannah made life miserable for him on the set of 'Memoirs of an Invisible Man'.

So i guess he disliked working with both of them. I only know about the Chase thing because he talked a little about it in an interview he did with Charles Band i watched on Youtube.

He sounds like a real pain in the ass haha. Chris Columbus was supposed to direct 'Christmas Vacation' but after he had a meeting with Chevy, he turned it down and did Home Alone instead. I guess he knew what was coming unlike Carpenter haha.

Carpenter has said he took the job because they paid him a massive paycheck, and because he always found Chase to be much funnier than most comedians like Akroyd or Belushi. He certainly went on to regret taking that check.

My family and I met him way back in 1988 at Universal Studios California. He was incredibly nice and stayed until every person in the tour group got a picture with him and his autograph 😊🥰
