He makes some good points. I like how he says he isn't wanting to lay blame on anyone but he pretty much does say that an actor should know how to handle a gun and it's implied that they should check it before firing it.

I know I would. If there is any doubt don't point the gun at someone and pull the trigger.

reply

Hes totally blaming Baldwin there, I doubt they'd get along with each other anyway lol

reply

Definitely is, but is trying to be as polite as possible while making his point XD

reply

You don't check a "cold gun". They either cant fire, are total fakes or have no ammo.

reply

Ok. But then would you check to ensure the gun is "cold"?

reply

No that is not the actors job! anymore than its their job to do a full mechanical inspection of a car they drive for a scene to make sure its fine and they dont have a accident. or to inspect food they eat for a scene to make sure it was prepared properly and no one gets food poisoning. or you responsible for the rope snapping when you bring you friend bungee jumping.

there is supposed to be multiple levels of inspection and protection with the armorer ultimately responsible.

reply

Have you seen the armorer for this film? She looks like a child.

reply

And acts like one. I haven't seen a picture of her yet where she isn't posing like some sexy wannabe Annie Oakley.

reply

Yeah she looks incompetent. Her father is an ex service man and is an armorer himself which is probably the only reason she got the job. I read an interview where her whole reasoning for her wanting the job was it looked like fun or something.

reply

The armorer on this film had already screwed up more than once prior to this event, and Alec Baldwin knew that. He was also one of the producers of the film.

reply

Yep. I figure if I were an actor who had to point a gun at someone, I might be wanting to check that gun or have someone else check it again before I pull the trigger. I bet this will change things to become similar to that.

reply

Cmon Leo, your argument is absurd and you know it. If you’re trolling, this is a lame topic to troll and if you’re simply naive you need to grow the hell up kid. People tragically lose their lives or are severely wounded/disabled/altered everyday, most times permanently, due to irresponsible gun use.
Gun (cold or not) safety is everyone’s responsibility.

reply

You are obviously ENTIRELY IGNORANT of this subject.

reply

The gun "wrangler" or whatever they are called often do not want anyone to just check the gun on their own because they are still responsible and that person might make a mistake. What they do if there is any question, or what they are supposed to do is to call over the gun manager and have them check the gun with them. They also are supposed to explain every move the director has worked out so it is safe.

reply

He's absolutely right.

reply

Being a fancy shmancy actor doesn't automatically delete your legal/ethical/humane responsibilities when a gun is in your hand.

Just because he hated Trump and you hate Trump doesn't take that away.

Baldwin was responsible for that gun. Period.
