Accident
What exactly happened to her in the early '70s that stalled her career? I know she had an accident but wasn't sure what caused it.
I'm watching her in MURDERERS' ROW at the moment and she is stunning.

shareI agree that she's stunning. Anyway, Merry Christmas Ann and your family. God bless. PS:Same to all of your fans.
shareShe was on a platform that was lowering her to the stage at the start of one of her shows. She fell about 22 feet to the stage and landed on her face and left arm. She had to get her jaws wired shut and wear a cast on her arm for a while. I've always thought she looked a little different after her accident than before it.
shareThough I have to say that the accident didn't really stall her career. What did cause a gap was her taking time off to care for her husband, Roger Smith, who suffers from Myasthenia Gravis. One of Ann-Margret's best qualities is her loyalty to those she loves.
Where have you gone, J. Lo? A nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
Wow!!, Thats crazy, I Had read that her Husband has that disease MG, However, I had absolutely No Idea that she had that kind of crazy Accident..
shareI think, I remember when it happened. I was about 10 at the time. If my memory serves me correctly, wasn't the platform that she fell from shaped like a hand?
I think I remembe reading somewhere that it was a moon, but I'm not sure.
" 'Tis very strange Men should be so fond of being thought wickeder than they are."
The platform was shaped like a hand, but the accident didn't stall her career.
In fact in the early 70's she'd had a career surge.
The "stall" came in the mid-sixties after her success in BYE BYE BIRDIE and VIVA LAS VEGAS. The public thought of her as a teenager but she was really in her mid-twenties and didn't want to do any more teenage roles. She did a few movies that didn't do well at the box office and her managers talked her into going to Europe and starring in what were then considered more "adult" movies. It's hard to understand now but in the sixties if you were in a movie rated adult, or even worse restricted adult, you were effectively banned from mainstream Hollywood. So Ann-Margret ended up coming back and doing low-budget biker movies. Oddly her career was put back on track in 1970 when she starred in the second mainstream Hollywood movie to be rated X - CARNAL KNOWLEDGE.
