reply

Maybe Tom Cruise will do the same.

reply

Cruise is asexual

reply

I don't want to know what Cruise likes.

Because, eeeew.

reply

Lol

reply

He handled that as well as could be expected ... what else could he say??

reply

I wouldn't say he handled it well. It just looks like he wanted to distract everyone from the incident with the 14 year old.

It doesn't make sense at all to make a public apology for the sexual assault of a minor and also coming out as gay in the same post. Great that he came out and is open about who he is but it should have been done separately. Obviously he was outed due to this accusation but it looks more like hes using it as a distraction.

reply

It's gone down all over the internet about as well as Weinstein showing up at your door wearing a dressing gown and especially within the gay community, who see it for what it is - a way to detract from what many have been saying for years - that he preys on underage boys. I expect more will now come forward with their own stories.

reply

I don't know much about Spacey and haven't seen a lot of his work but I've seen a few people say today that it's well-known in Hollywood that he was into younger guys so i expect there will be more people coming forward about him.
He's a well-known actor and has a larger fan base so if more people do come forward, he'll probably still have a lot of people defending him.

Although what he did was terrible, especially considering the age of the victim, let's hope he never did anything more than lie on top of an underage boy and hope that it actually was just a stupid, drunken, one-time mistake.

All the disgusting predators within Hollywood need to be exposed.

reply

Nobody cares that he was gay, or at least claims to be full-time now, but the rumours about him and underage boys have been far too numerous for Anthony Rapp to have been his only victim.

Drunken people do a lot of stupid things but assaulting underage kids usually isn't one of them.

Yes, all this needs to be exposed, but the perps also need to be charged with the crimes they commited and they should not be allowed to keep getting away with it with because they issused fake apologies to the media (and not the victims).

reply

I agree, his drunk excuse was very silly. In fact, the whole apology/coming out post was just silly in general. I think it's quite clear that it was his publicists idea to come out in the same post as a distraction - i think celebrities need to learn that it's not always a good idea to listen to your publicist.

They definitely shouldn't get away with it, but unfortunately California's laws basically prevent any people in Hollywood from being charged with such a crime after a certain amount of time has passed.

reply

I read that is the only American state where that is the case. Don't know if it's true or not. It should change it's laws if it is the case.

Using alchohol as an excuse for anything other than throwing up is a copout - the wanting to abuse a child would have had to be there in the first place.

At least he didn't use the "I'm sorry if I offended anyone and I will spend a week in rehab" excuse.

reply

Most, if not all, states have a "statute of limitations" that varies in length according to the nature and severity of the offense.

reply

His whole coming post did nothing but cause outage from industry professionals who see it for what it is and the timing to come out is bad. If you read his statement again it was very clear more was going to come out as we always see in these stories once the flood gates are open there's a lot more on the way.

reply

Nobody cares if he's gay cause he's not a heartthrob or an action hero, he chose not to come out thirty years ago that was totally his choose didn't have a image to protect he's a character actor, a classical actor.

reply

Everyone can see it's a distraction, it was pretty much saying don't look at that look at this, nobody cares if he's gay he's not a sex symbol or an action star. A lot of industry professionals were slamming his choice to come out during an accusation, the timing was pretty bad and can see it for what it is.

Here's from Zachary Quinto an openly gay actor very very unhappy about how it played out

β€œIt is deeply sad and troubling that this is how Kevin Spacey has chosen to come out,” Quinto said. β€œNot by standing up as a point of pride β€” in the light of all his many awards and accomplishments β€” thus inspiring tens of thousands of struggling LGBTQ kids around the world. But as a calculator manipulation to deflect attention from the very serious accusation that he attempted to molest one.”

β€œI am sorry to hear of Anthony Rapp’s experience and subsequent suffering. And I am sorry that Kevin only saw fit to acknowledge his truth when he though it would serve him β€” just as his denial served him for so many years,”

reply

It's clearing him trying to play victim by making it look like he's part of some oppressed class, pretty much saying "I did it because of this" or "Don't look at that look at this", it seems him being gay was only an issue to him and no one else, as you can see he chose not to put it out there years earlier with little reason not to.

reply

worst kept secret ever.

reply

Why would or SHOULD he apologize for something he says he can't remember? "I have no recollection of the incident, but I am sorry." Really?

reply

Just so you know...

If you ever insult or injure anyone while blackout drunk, you'd better apologize afterwards even if you don't remember it. Because the person you've insulted or injured remembers even if you don't, and if you don't make a convincing show of contrition you will make an enemy for life.

reply

First, what if the other guy was blackout drunk too and is totally wrong in his rememberings? Second, couldn't anyone then accuse you of anything on the occasions that you might be drunk? I could say that Harvey Weinstein raped me! Sure he does not remember, because he was annihilated! Where do I sign for my ten million?

reply

The news is full of people waiting for ten, twenty, THIRTY years get get revenge for an insult or injury, and you still don't see the value of making amends while you can?

Uh, okay, you go ahead and try it your way in real life.

reply

I wouldn't know. I've never had a reason to make amends.

reply

I truly had no idea that he wasn’t already out. It just seemed like one of those obvious things that everyone already knew.

reply

I wonder when he's going to come out and admit he wears a toupee...

reply

lol

reply

I swear this has been openly talked about since Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil days. Did it get out in the open and then locked back up again? I thought this totally known.

reply

Pretty much. He's been one of these everybody-knows-so-why's-he-still-closeted guys for... decades now.

reply

[deleted]

I guess it was a closet with glass doors.

reply

I have no problem with him being gay. However his molestation of a 14 year old boy is a BIG PROBLEM for me. He's a scummy sexual predator.

Of course for every scummy Hollyweird Sexual Predator who is outed, there are probably 100 more who are still hidden because they paid off their victims. They're still scuttling around under their individual rocks.

If there's any validity to the rumors I've been hearing for years, Spacey might be a bigger fish than you think. According to entirely unverified sources, many young men have lost jobs for saying "no" to him, and he's used the "You'll never work again" threat as well. If he's one of the few to actually fall, he might deserve it.

But for all the rumors I've heard about that creep, this is the first one involving anyone underage. Maybe he's just more discrete about than than firing handsome but uncooperative supporting players.

reply

Nobody gives a damn if he's gay, it's not like he's a dashing leading man who women would drool over, so it wasn't important to anybody other than to him, after thirty or forty years he feels a need to come out after Anthony Rapp makes his allegations which was a bad move and most people can see it for what it is a distraction. Sexual predators are always gonna try and play victim by saying they couldn't help themselves because of some illness, their nationality and sexual orientation as a deflection.

reply

I don't either. He's a scumbag predator, and he is toast.

😐

reply

If he came out at an appropriate time it could've been a day of celebration because we had a major actor deciding to come out, no other A list actor has ever done that of any great note.

A lot of openly gay actors were very very unhappy about how it played out and were calling for what it is.

reply

I couldn't care less that he's gay. What's important is that he's a sexual predator and a scumbag. And he is toast.

😎

reply

He didn't molest Anthony Rapp because he's gay, he did because he had the power and chose to abuse it.

He's very much finished as a valuable force in Hollywood, with the changes going on in the industry I don't think anyone would wanna be around him because he's creepy.

reply

I agree completely.
