A really bad actor

I will say this - despite his pretty crappy acting skills, he stars in a few very decent sci-fi flicks.
There is an oddity of sorts - if one actor consistently picks decent films to star in, viewers start to flock to that actor's films - the more viewers this actor attracts, the more often studios put his/her into their films.

So yeah - appearance, choice of roles +increasing audience numbers = more roles offered by studios.
As an actor..... he is pretty bland. I've noticed he's started directing/producing his own films as of late - I couldn't even finish the first john wick - not gonna bother with his other attempts either, unless there's decent plot. Apparently many other peeps love his recent action films, so to each his own.

I rank him alongside Nicholas Cage. They’re not what I would call great actors, but they knew how to pick good material that worked to their strengths. The only time he gives bad performances is when he’s in straight up bad films.

Directos need to know how to use him, he was good in speed, point break, devils advocate.

He was especially good as an asshole in the gift.

But a really great person.

Sure, he’s had some roles that didn’t suit him but I wouldn’t avoid a movie because he appears in it. I think he’s extremely likeable and charismatic. I don’t begrudge his success at all.

He might be a terrible actor, but there are some really good movies with him - Devil's Advocate, The Matrix of course, Speed is ok, John Wick films are cool. Besides, by all accounts he seems to be the nicest guy ever
